Heil, Wal-Mart! I'm giving myself over to them now. Why fight it?

You don't even have to go to them- just stand a field and wait a few weeks and a Wal-Mart will spring up to envelop you.

I'm trying to decide whether to be optimistic - because it is for the best - or pessimistic because, well, it's Wal-Mart doing what is best for Wal-Mart.

Well, it's a reason to be optimistic. We won't choke on our own garbage in a dying world, because Wal-Mart won't let us. Because Wal-Mart wants us as customers in its lowest common denominator deadening box of a culture.

So! The fight goes on. Just on slightly different ground.

A friend of mine works for the environmental lobbying firm that has been working on Wal*Mart to make these changes - trying to convince them that it is good business.

This is all well and good, but when are they going to REALLY get with the times and have some indie-rock music in their commercials? Come on, Grandpa Wal-Mart!

One thing Wal-Mart does not do is take crap from its customers. You suggest nothing to Wal-Mart! Wal-Mart tells YOU what is best!

I cannot read that thing. I think it says: "Pirandello is like a clear day: you look forward to it."

What's that say? Friendship? Powerstrip? Floorshine? Fendershop?

It's Friendship. Pirandello is nothing like a clear day. Though Fendershop is kind of.
