To be honest, I haven't seen much of Winnipeg. My mother and I drove up and back from Grand Forks in a day and so were only there for a few hours. Then I saw "The Phantom of the Opera" there with my in-laws, so I know there's reasonable theater. Most of my brief times in Winnipeg, though, were flying into the airport then immediately driving out to Wawanesa to see my inlaws.
I think of Winnipeg as a nice, clean city with some lovely cosmopolitan aspects. That's the same way I think of Perth in Australia. Only Perth is a little warmer... ;-)

Baked Expectations is a good call--it's within walking distance from here, and I like plenty of stuff there myself, so we should both come out of it satisfied with our meals.

Ditto the Eat! suggestion, as it seems to be coming up a lot, and I haven't been to Aqua in a while now...
Having both of these within reasonable walking distance doesn't hurt. ;) As long as the weather is decent and places are at least as close as The Forks, I want to take advantage of what picturesque qualities the city still has to offer a week from now, with a minimum of driving.
