He smiled towards Canada, then looked towards the unfamiliar woman beside him. She wasn't a nation, by his recollection (in fact, he and Canada were the only ones there that he noted), so Canada would probably prefer he was referred to by the names that they went by in situations like these.

"It is my flag," he said, sounding innocent. "It reminds me of home." That answered the what and why, at least. Why else? Canada hadn't put a flag in yet, so he might as well take the chance.

"It has been awhile Matthew."

Canada nodded to Russia, and he said, "Yeah, it's been a while."

He relaxed a little, too. Russia looked pretty sane so far, and it made it easier to talk to him. Also, it helped that it looked like he had no weapons with him. Not worrying about getting shot did wonders. Though he COULD be hiding a gun under his coat...

But enough of that. They had talking to do. "Ivan, this is Citrine," he said, introducing the two, "She's the head of White Fang, which is the police force here, so she's kind-of like the leader of this place. Citrine, this is Ivan."

"Ivan," she said with a nod, the name reminding her a little of people that had worked under her in the Salvator Faction; even her father's name had roots in a certain place on Lost Jerusalem that might have been the origin of this name as well.

"Is that the name you go by, or is it the name of the...country you embody?" She wasn't entirely sure how to word this, still not familiar with the concept, but she hoped he would understand anyway. So far, so good; she didn't sense any danger coming from him, if 'senses' were anything to by.

"I am Russia," she seemed up to par with what they were so there was obviously no problem in introducing himself like that. "Or rather, Russia is the nation I am." He extended his hand to allow them to shake, as he was always attempting to be polite in first introductions.

"It is good to meet you, Citrine. I see you are a friend of Canada's."

Once again, Canada nodded. He also offered a small smile as he said, "Yeah, you could say that. It seemed fitting, since we're supposed to be friends with the leaders, and she's a leader here."

Of course, they didn't always get along with their leaders, so it helped that Canada really did see Citrine as a friend.
