I just looked at my degree audit and after next semester, I only have 4 credits of requirements for my BFA left along with 12 elective credits and 1 non tuition.  That's insane!  I actually passed the class I only went to 8 times... Art must have a purpose, and an audience, otherwise, it's a guy in his bathroom masturbating.

It doesn't have to be a Purpose with a capital p, just a reason for existing, whether it be some deep socio-political thing, or the artist thought the colors looked cool.

I've come to realize that if I'm going to be good at any discipline and not feel awkward about it, I have to just commit to it and realize, dude, this may make me feel awkward, but that's okay.  I'm in intro to acting right now and we've been doing a lot of movement-based work, which probably won't mean anything to anyone but a couple people who ( Read more... )
