There are ads on LJ? Never noticed or seen them. Does it require a type of account or is adblock simply working overtime?

I think if you have a paid account you don't see ads. I know I can't see them!

If your account type is 'Basic' (i.e. it was created before 2005 and you've not upgraded) and you view entries only via your friends page, you wont see the ads.

AdBlockPlus FTW!

And as I hear it you can keep missing that one and still be just peachy.

It's weird to realize "Aeris dies" is in the same realm as the rest of that stuff.

Yeah, that one didn't even happen at the end.

I knew that this wasn't going to end well.

Of course, it MIGHT have, but I didn't think it would.

...and then this is the point where Marigold turns to Hannelore for love and comfort. (Most ridiculous pairing ever.)

There's no ads anywhere if you have a paid account ;)

That involves money, though.

Or a judicious use of "hey, I'm lj-famous, and yet somehow broke, anyone want to give the gift that keeps on giving (to you) and hook me up with a paid account?"

I've never felt like a yearly subscription to LJ was that taxing on my funds. It's pretty cheap and has some nice extra features.
