Kevin can't face the bar today, even for the short time it'd take to cross the room to the infirmary.

He can't face Darien or Charlie.

There are worse things than dying.

Kevin is the first to wake up, with a still-sleeping Claire curled up against him.

Their clothes are in a tangled pile on the floor, with Pavlov asleep next to them, apparently on guard.

It's a been a long time. But the feeling of this woman in his arms, in his bed... yeah, that hasn't changed.

He looks at her, and he smiles.

It's the middle of the night, and the phone rings, waking him.

He might have ignored it and gone back to sleep, but it keeps ringing for too long to be unimportant, especially at this hour.

"...hello?"

The boys wandered away from the campsite, an hour or so ago. And...Kevin has no idea where they are.

He's not admitting that, though. They'll find their way back soon... right?

When Kevin wakes up, he doesn't open his eyes right away.

He doesn't want to see the empty room he's half-sure will be there now he's awake. Just a dream, like all the other times.

Darien is the cook of the family. Or of the brothers, at least. This is something that is mutually accepted.

However, Kevin is bored.

This explains why he's hanging around in the kitchen trying to help. Operative word, trying.

Kevin's sitting at his desk, filling in the forms to request a transfer.

He's also got a half-written report for his superiors of just what Dr. Gaither's been doing - but he's in two minds about whether to send that in. If doing it could get Darien hurt or worse...

"So what is it you want me to see here, again?"

Dr. Gaither hasn't actually told Kevin much about what's in this facility, yet, and he's increasingly curious about what's inside.
