Least Favorite Harry Potter Book

I don't have a plus account so I can't make a poll, but just wondering which HP book people liked the least. I hated #5 because I had just finished doing my teaching internship with kids that were the same age and was really not in the mood to read about more whiny teens. I realize that the angsty teen is so realistic, but I guess when you're with ( Read more... )

I have to agree with you on 5 -- Harry was a whiny brat through most of it. Wah, poor him. I'm hoping the movie tones that down a bit.

Six was pretty good, I thought, but like you I can't remember it much. Really, it was mostly setup for book 7.

I've actually read one review that says the movie is by far the worst of the series. :( It seems to be one of those obvious filler movies to ramp up for the next edition.

Glad you agree with me. One friend told me all her friends liked 5 the best and I couldn't believe it!

I really wouldn't have thought of 5 as filler. I mean, a lot happened in that book, especially with the massive battle at the end. (Which is pretty cool, IMHO.) *shrug* I don't tend to like or agree with movie critics' reviews, so I'll reserve judgement 'til I see it.

It does have its good points. Maybe the whiny teenager-ness doesn't bother them? Strange. I guess everyone has their own tastes, though.

The complaint was mostly that it was too much plot and not enough action, so I may like it. I tend to dislike movies that are all action and little plot (Pirates 2). I have a feeling the angstyness may come off better on film than in the book. As for teenage angstyness- I actually don't mind a lot of angsty YA novels and TV shows. I just feel like the angst wasn't integrated as well in that one as I've seen in other YA novels.
