[ Cordelia groans. ] Ugh! You’ve got to be kidding. I thought this was all over! Are we seriously revisiting this again? The claw marks, the boils, the burns. But wings? Are we going to be attacked by some wild demonic bird now
( Read more... )
[ Cordelia knows that voice. It's been a pain in her ass for at least a good six years.
And Cordelia hates how she feels so relieved knowing Buffy the Slayer is here to save the day. Or somehow get them out of this particular hell dimension. ]
Buffy?
[ Of course Buffy is here. Wherever here is. But she doesn't remember getting a phone call from Willow saying she had disappeared ... ]
The one and only. Mind telling me what kind of hell dimension we've somehow been sucked into and how to get out of it?
That's a lot of halves. Mind telling me which one applies more to me?
[ ... ] Everyone gets stuck with these wings? [ That is a relief. Except, knowing that everyone has different colours is a bit creepy. ] Where's my halo if we're going for the full angel vibe?
[ Oh god. Happy doesn't even begin to express how relieved Cordelia is to hear that voice. If only he could see the big smile on her face. She can breathe a bit easier knowing her champ is here. ]
Angel!
[ Except, he is nowhere to be seen near her. Maybe this dimension brings people in but doesn't keep them together during their landing. Cordelia frowns. ]
[ Hey! There be no brothel working here! Her life just sucks. ]
You seriously expect me to believe that ducks are a danger? Ducks.
[ This has to be a prank. It is quite obvious in her tone that she thinks you are trying to pull her leg just because she's a new feather. Face. She doesn't quite know the proper terminology of this place yet. ]
Right. Stay away from the ducks in order to protect my sanity.
[ She should really take this seriously, considering she has wings, but, ducks. They go quack quack and eat bits of bread you throw at them. She isn't quite adding the numbers correctly together for the moment. ]
Colour me curious. What other crap can I expect to be thrown my way? Apart from being driven crazy by ducks.
[ She doesn't know which is worse: The Malnosso or The Powers That Be. But considering the Powers gave her mind-numbing, lava-pouring-into-her-skull visions, she'll take the Malnosso over them for the time being. A wild demonic moon? So not a blip on the radar when her visions are involved. The lesser of two evils. ]
The wing thing still baffles me, but I'll keep that in mind. Maybe I should just keep my hands off the wings altogether? I've been told that somehow removing them causes death.
[ That sounds like a huge-ass exaggeration to Cordelia, and her disbelief in their significance is noticeable in her voice. She knows she still has her heart, and that it's pumping, but what she doesn't really know is if these wings play any significant role in anything other than looking completely ridiculous.
But if two people are saying don't touch the wings or remove them, Cordelia isn't going to ignore them. Belatedly: ]
I understand your confusion, miss, truly, but you may be better advised to seek accommodation for now -- a night's worth at least. The weather grows chill.
Thanks. It seems I may have found a place, but - [ "Accomodation" means places to live, which means this world is kind of developed in terms of actually living in it. ]
Is there free accommodation for people who don't have a place to go?
There is, yes. I believe that it is referred to as the "welcome center" by the residents of this place. Or the "welcoming center". A charming name at any rate.

[ a dryish kind of sigh. ] Welcome to Luceti, Cordelia Chase. I hope you at least got stuck with one of the more fashionable wing hues.

Possibly best to proceed with caution with this one:]
You'll find, darling, that the only demonic birds in Luceti are the ducks.
Stay. Clear. Of them.

[No lie: they are vicious and crafty.]
One of the many madnesses you'll find here, sure enough.

Cordelia thought she had the freaking out under control and had calmed it down. But hearing about a moon? Not calming down. ]
A moon? How did the moon turn wild and demonic?
[ You are pulling her leg, just like Jack, right? Right? She clearly does not believe you, Iron Jerk.
She's a freaking Angel Investigations employee and warrior. She should not find this new. Or worrisome. ]

Does the welcome centre have a help desk? I've got a guide but I've found any manual doesn't cover every possible thing.
