My little Western pony is staying true to her roots. In an effort to keep her more engaged and interested in the arena, I set up some buckets (in lieu of cones as we don't have any) in a clover leaf pattern today. Cantered on Reba for the first time in a while today. It was so much fun and she was so good. It was a smooth transition and she went straight into it without any resistance. We came back to a trot and then walked and I gave her lots of praise and cuddles. Of course, it was so much fun that I decided I had to do it again. Bad move ( Read more... )

For the second day running, my girl was good as gold! I arrived and went out to feed all the horses and spent some time just hanging out with them as they ate. I pottered around topping up the water troughs and making up some more fly spray. My sweet girl is back! This morning, I walked into the paddock and she came trotting over to me to say hello. We walked together to the gate and I put her halter on and led her into the barn. I have come to the conclusion that Reba came into my life to teach me how to be a good parent. Not having human children, my animals are my 'babies'. My 'first born', Alfie is the golden child - sweet natured, obedient (enough) and respectful. He loves to snuggle and is gentle with other dogs and kids, and is just a generally smiley, happy chap.
