Pumpkin Ale, First Tasting
First taste of the pumpkin ale today...
The color is a medium amber color similar to Shiner Bock. However the taste is much "hoppier" than I expected from the color. First taste is bitter, followed by a typical amber beer, with a smooth pumpkin and molasses finish. It is worth noting that NIETHER the pumpkin or molasses flavors are sweet. This ( Read more... ) -

This a week late, but I had sworn that J had put it up...
Batch #4 1/04/09
I gallon 100% apple juice
4 cups sugar
1 package Lalvin white wine yeast
The pear is still bubbling ~40 seconds now. the yeast LIKES pear.... -
Further experimentation

Have completed both Batch One and Batch Two ( Read more... ) -

So we decided to go ahead and make another batch. ...our reasoning for this? We figure we will be so excited with the first batch that we will want to drink it all. Which means that there won't be any left to age in the barrels. So we made a batch to experiment with. We may need to start another batch. I really want to play with the juice ( Read more... )
