with the rain on the roof i soaked in the tub for hours in the middle of the night. it was too loud to sleep. then i wrapped in a sheet and laid on the floor listening to records. the lights around my bedpost made shadows down across the carpet and i stretched my body out to reach them. i wasn't tired and i wasn't sad.

in my head there is a picture of you humming, as i imagine you would, with your hair in your eyes, as you say that it is, on some plain in some winter with some clumsy coat that is too long for your arms.

i miss the way dylan would shake my hands in his when he wanted me to really listen. evan's not spoken to me in a year. so i figure it's probably time to throw out his letters, there are over four hundred of them all together. weird.
