I stomped into the kitchen to look for some breakfast as Ryosuke walked in; he took one look at me and backed up.
“What’s up with you?” he asked.
“Yuto,” was all I said then took a bite out of a Pocky stick.
“He wake you up this morning?” he gave me a look of sympathy as I nodded angry. “I’m so sorry.”
“You told me this would be hard,” I sighed. “So I should have saw your guys’ craziness coming.”
“Well you should see them before concerts,” he sighed taking a seat at the kitchen table and I sat next to him. “They go completely whacko.”
“Nice choice of words,” I laughed.
“Thanks,” he smiled laughing with me. “Anyways, I have to go, I’ll see you at school.”
“Yeah,” he stood up and walked out of the kitchen just as Staci and Sarah walked in.
“Time for school!” Staci pumped a fist in the air.
“Let’s bounce,” Sarah tried to sound gangster. Let me just say… it did not work.
I picked up my school bag and followed the girls out the back door. From there we went through a fence that connected to someone else’s back yard and went out through the front door.
“Why did we just walk through someone else’s house?” I asked confused pointing at the pretty white house.
“It’s one of the Johnny houses,” Staci said. “So technically it’s another part of the hey say house.”
“That makes sense,” I paused. “I think.”
The rest of the way to the school was quiet and when we got to school we paused outside the gates. I looked up at the school; it was nice for a high school. It was four stories high and had several buildings.
“Let’s get you to the faculty office,” Sarah said and I followed her into the school.
The inside was just as nice as the outside and when I walked in there was a lot of students making their ways to class. I looked up to see Sarah and Staci gesturing for me to follow them. I walked close behind so I didn’t get pulled by the sea of people, which by the way is totally possible! We then stopped outside of the faculty office and the girls turned to me.
“Go in here and introduce yourself the teachers will tell you where to go,” Staci said. “We have to go to class so we’ll see you later. Maybe during lunch or something.”
“Alright,” I smiled as the two started walking to their class.
I looked at the faculty office door and took in a deep breath then blew it out and opened the door. Guess what I saw? Teachers. What else is there to see in the faculty office? I walked in and several looked up at me with questioning expressions, probably wondering why a student was in the office.
“Are you new here?” a pretty teacher with a smile asked.
“Yeah,” I answered nervous.
“Then you must be Han Chae Ri, daughter of the famous Han Siwon,” her smile grew wider. “I’m your homeroom teacher Ms. Sun Mi Lee.”
“Are you Korean?” I asked surprised.
“Yes,” she answered with a chuckle. “I went to school with your father.”
“Really?” I asked surprised. “And my mother?”
“Yes, she was a beautiful woman,” she replied looking as if she had a flashback of the two.
“Wait,” I paused. “Are you the Sun Mi my mom and dad’s best friend from high school?”
“Pretty much,” she said as a bell went off. “Oh! We better get to class!”
“Yeah,” I mumbled following her out of the office. I smiled a little because there was someone who was slightly familiar in this different place.
When we walked to the classroom at the top it said 1-A. I smiled as she opened the door to reveal an orderly class with everyone sitting in their seats waiting for class to start.
“Class,” Ms. Lee said cheerfully. “We have a new student; Han Chae Ri. Some of you might know her dad as the scientist of Han Enterprises or her grandfather who is the president of Han Enterprises. I want you to give a warm welcome to Chae Ri she’s a daughter of dear friends of mine.”
“Hi,” I waved at the class and could see four familiar faces smiling cheerily. “I’m Han Chae Ri, I’m from Korea.” I couldn’t think of anything else to say so I stopped talking or else I would’ve made a complete retard of myself.
“You can sit next to Mirai,” Ms. Lee said as a girl with short brown hair raised her hand. I smiled at her and went to sit next to her.
After homeroom was over we had an English class and I got really bored because, of course, I already knew English. So I sat impatiently and started to doodle as the teacher kept talking.
“My friend and me went to-,” she said in English and I looked up and raised my hand.
“Yes Chae Ri?” she asked.
“It’s ‘my friend and I went’,” I corrected her.
“Excuse me?” she asked frowning.
“The phrase you were saying is ‘my friend and I’,” I said again.
“Well then,” she looked embarrassed of her mistake and kept on going with the lesson.
“What a nerd,” I could hear someone mutter in the back.
Here we go again; every school I had ever gone to it had always been the same. Everyone would think I’m some weird nerdy person who thought she knew everything. It wasn’t fun, especially when it ended up with you having bruises by the end of the day.
I ignored it because I didn’t want to have to deal with it then Mirai nudged me in the arm and smiled reassuringly. I smiled back showing I didn’t really care what they said… unless I get attacked.
The rest of my classes were pretty boring and at the end of the day when I was getting ready to leave I didn’t know where to go. Why you ask? Because Staci and Sarah weren’t with me and I couldn’t remember how to get back home.
“Chae Ri!” Mirai was standing next to me her stuff already packed.
“Hey,” I smiled as she stood there.
“Do you want to go somewhere with me?” she asked.
“Umm… sure?” I said in a questioning tone. I mean for all I know she could lead me into some crazy place with people who could kill me.
“Don’t worry I’m not going to get you killed.” Somehow that didn’t make me feel better.
The two of us walked out of the school talking about our lives, our families and, sadly, school. Mirai was someone who I could relate to, she has so many amazing dreams that I do too, like she’s an actress and has starred in some major dramas. When we stopped in front of a big building she looked at me and she smiled.
“Today’s bring a guest so I thought it would be fun to bring you,” she smiled and we walked in. The only thing I had a problem with was what was she bringing me to?
The two of us walked up a flight of stairs and Mirai opened a door to a dance studio. I let out a sigh of relief; at least I knew how to dance.
“I don’t have any dance clothes,” I mumbled as we walked in.
“Don’t worry I always bring extras,” Mirai said as she walked in she then approached a woman with a large bag with her and took the bag.
“Come on!” she waved to me and I followed her to the bathroom.
I changed into black sweat/capris, a white tank top and black Jordan’s. When I walked back into the dance studio there were already girls stretching and I started to too as Mirai came up next to me.
“This is going to be so fun!” she exclaimed almost falling over from her excitement, I laughed.
Soon the instructor came in and started the class. She walked in and looked surprised at all the people that were in the room.
“You girls brought a lot of guests with you!” she exclaimed happily. “I want to see what each girl can do!”
Soon she had everyone lining up to show her their ‘moves’ if that’s what you call it. I mean really practically every girl decided they wanted to audition for a 50 cent video and tried to do their booty shakes… which didn’t work. Wanna know why? Because they’re Asian and have no booty to shake. Then my turn came. I was nervous; I hadn’t danced in public for awhile.
When I got up a song started and I started to do all the moves I could think of that flowed together well. It wasn’t bad, but I’ve done better. When the song ended I decided to do that one handed hand stand that most guys do at the end. It went smoothly, except I could’ve used a hat. It would’ve made me look way cooler.
When I was done I stood up and bowed as the girls started to clap and the instructor came up to me with a smile.
“Have you taken dance lessons before?” she asked happily.
“Yeah when I was younger,” I replied sheepish.
“You have a lot of potential, I can tell you that much,” she said then turned to the rest of the class. “Thank you all for coming I’ll see you girls next week.”
“I’d like to talk to you,” the instructor turned to me. “How would you like to join my class?”
“I don’t know,” I said I mean really right now I have no money to join a class.
“If its money issues I can offer a scholarship,” she said hopeful. “Classes are usually forty dollars a week but I can give you a full scholarship as long as your GPA is above a 3.5.”
“You should do it!” Mirai exclaimed and I smiled.
“I’d have to talk it over with my guardian but sure,” I agreed not knowing who I was supposed to ask. Johnny or my dad?
“Let me know next week when you come back with Mirai,” the instructor said enthusiastically.
“Alright,” I smiled and walked out of the studio with Mirai.
“You should so take Ms. Sato never gives out scholarships,” Mirai said.
“I don’t know,” I pondered. “I’d have to ask my dad.”
“You should then tell me tomorrow!” she said as she started to walk a different way than the way I was walking. “I’ll see you in class tomorrow!”
She then started to run toward wherever she was going, probably her house. Then I thought about it and realized I still didn’t know where my house was and I didn’t have a phone to figure it out. It was only five o’clock but still, I had no idea where I was.
I started to wander hoping I wasn’t going to get kidnapped or anything. I was looking at the ground not making eye contact with anyone who passed by when I felt someone run into me. I fell on my butt and yelled out in pain.
“Watch where you’re going!” I whined and looked up to see a familiar face. “Ryosuke!”
“Where have you been?” he asked with, wait! Is that worry? Is he worried about me?
“I was with Mirai then forgot how to get back to the house,” I mumbled and looked away. It was awkward having him stare at me like that.
“You should’ve at least called,” he said sounding slightly angry.
“I don’t even know the house number!” I exclaimed. “I’ve been in the house, what, three days now? I don’t even know what general direction the house is in.”
“It’s right around the corner,” he said finally.
“Oh.”
Well that was strange; I thought I was going the wrong way this whole time. I guess not. I looked up at Ryosuke and smiled sheepishly.
“Let’s go to the house,” he sighed helping me up off the ground.
“But I still need to go grocery shopping,” I said. “And I’m not supposed to know you outside of the house remember?”
“We’re in the same class so I think it’s alright if we talk outside of the house,” he said.
“But I still need to go grocery shopping,” I cried as we were almost to the house.
“Fine, we’ll go for half an hour then go home,” he said pulling me in another direction.
I didn’t know what to do so I let him drag me to the store, it was a little awkward and I was hoping he wouldn’t ‘discombobulate’ my hand again. When we were in the store I grabbed a cart and went to the produce section. I started to get vegetables and when I was done I moved onto the fruits. I stopped at strawberries; they seemed to be good so I picked them up.
“Strawberries?!” Ryosuke grabbed them from my hands and looked at them with wide eyes.
“Yeah,” I said snatching them back and putting them in the cart.
I then walked away from him and went toward the pasta section. I grabbed noodles and saw a big bag of rice and put it in the cart. When I was done I went to the cash register and realized I had no way of paying for this. I stood there as the cashier was ringing up the food and thought about how I was going to pay for it.
“That’ll be ¥3,926,” the boy said. I didn’t know what to do so I stood there for a few moments pondering the idea of running out of the store like a retard. Then suddenly a card was placed in front of me. I looked up expecting to see Ryosuke but it was someone else.
