I've been pretty upset by a theme present in a lot of news coverage of the VA Tech incident. The media seems intent on finding a way to blame someone other than the shooter for the incident. I know I've long awaited your imminent psychotic break, oh weird and withdrawn one.

I agree that it's always disturbing to see the creepy collective will that emerges after these incidents, the strange desperate drive to root out any anomalies in order to protect the greater whole.

You're right. If they violated my privacy rights and told administrators or my parents about my emotional health without my permission, I wouldn't have graduated. In fact, I'm fairly certain that such a betrayl would have freaked me out so much I wouldn't trust the profession ever again.

If that happened to someone worse off than me, then I shudder to think of the consequences.
