I'm gonna sound really silly here, but I'm not from the US. We don't have grades here. Could you give me a quick run down on the ages for each grade please?
Middle school grades are 7-9 and high school grades are 10-12. The age ranges are as follows:
7: ages 12-13
8: ages 13-14
9: ages 14-15
10: ages 15-16
11: ages 16-17
12: ages 17-18
We do allow a little variation in that with students either having been skipped grades or held back. Also, as graduation at Reims Academy is dependent upon completing a senior project, it is possible to have characters of 19 or 20 years old in grade 12.
Short answer: fairly standard policy. It's not tolerated and you will get in trouble.
Longer answer: If you're caught bullying or get reported, depending on the severity of the incident you're probably going to be looking at a detention for a first strike. If the behavior continues, more detentions and a trip to the counselor are in order. And if it gets really bad, parents/guardians will be contacted and the character may be suspended/expelled/marked up on their permanent record.
If characters are caught fighting, it's an automatic detention and counselor visit for all involved parties.
a. In the AU History section of the application, do we write about the events of their lives that lead up to the time they got a scholarship/sponsored/etc in Reims? b. I'm... kind of new to the whole AU setting, so I was wondering... do canonmates and castmates immediately know one another in the school or is it back to step one for them(meeting, getting to know each other, etc)? c. Are there animals kept in the school? And can characters bring their own sets of pets, such as kittens or puppies?
a. Yep! Be as detailed as you need to, but try to focus on the important events that shaped their personality in some way. And remember to include how they came to attend the academy! b. That depends! People who are related will almost always still be related, and close friendships might be maintained, depending on how those friendships happened in canon. The general rule is not to write anything into your app that will trap a castmate: try to keep it vague enough that anyone who joins after you will always have an out if they want to do things differently. And if you know someone else is planning to app a castmate, we strongly recommend contacting them beforehand so you can work out your backstories together. c. As answered here, students are officially allowed to have small animals that can be kept in a cage, or a service animal if they need one. If your character is the type to break the rules, they could try smuggling a kitten or puppy in. But, well, they'd better hope they don't get caught
