Bitching

1.  I have been sending my resume out for jobs lately. I'm ready to go to work full time and let Tony work part time and attend school.  He started online classes today and could have a particular high paying part time job with the snap of two fingers.  He would be home during the day so the kids wouldn't have to go to daycare, which is extremely ( Read more... )

I don't think the middle class exsists anymore & I've seen a lot of people with the same thought. Just 2 years we were upper middle class. Now .. we live paycheck to paycheck and that isn't even enough every month. My mom went from making a 6 figure income to $30k a year.

I'm with you though. I don't want to need to depend on the government, but right now. I do, if it wasn't for my food stamps and wic man we'd be in the hole, deeeeep.

OMG, if I didn't have WIC I would be so screwed. We qualify for food stamps but I refuse to go down there and apply because the people are so freaking rude. They make me feel like I'm a piece of shit and then I cry for days.

They really are!
I'm telling if you'd have told me 2 years ago that I'd be on WIC and food stamps I'd have laughed in your face.
I actually never even applied for food stamps! I randomly got a letter in the mail one day that told me I qualified and then a week later I got my EBT card. I've had to go back once to recertify and I have to do it again on Monday, ugh!

I think we're probably on the upper end of poor/lower end of middle class. Maybe if I got a job we'd be solidly on the lower end of middle class. We've talked about how much our husband's make before and I can't believe you do what you do on what you have. Your family is amazing ( ... )

We are very thrifty. And I admit that I've raised my kids to be happy with what they have instead of wanting the best of everything.

I've got my student loans deferred. It was a very easy thing to do, especially how things are today. I told them I wasn't working and that was all it took. They were deferred for a year. So consider that when they come due. If y'all have another baby and you aren't working, it would be easy. They don't even ask why you aren't working, I think with the economy the way it is, they assume you can't find a job.

That house is cute but there is no way I could live within a house that is less than 1000sq. I mean, yeah, we could because I can make anything work, but holy shit, that would be hard. We have 1500sq now. But I would love to live next to you. Layla and Ben would so get married one day. And Ben could say he had an older woman!

Yes, exactly. We have a few nice things that we treasure. We are trying very hard to get Darrell's mom to stop buying so much garbage for Ben. This last time she went on a shopping spree was not too bad. She got him on stuffed animal (which is really, really, really doesn't need!) and a bunch of clothes. And a lot of the clothes she got second hand. I honestly don't mind her buying clothes too much, it's when she buys a bunch little crappy toys that it annoys me. The thing is though, she buys wrong sizes or wrong seasons. So it's iffy if he'll even wear about half of it. It's so wasteful ( ... )

Yay, there is the icon I love!!

Yep, this insurance problem is being felt in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida. I really don't know what all of us in those states will do.

I remind myself often that some of the people that have so much more than us are actually living way beyond their means. They are living on credit. That makes me feel better because we do not have a lot of debt hanging over our head. The debt we do have is for necessity, like the mortgage and car note. We don't go to the mall and charge brand name clothes....we don't even go to the mall unless there is a serious sale and we NEED clothes badly.

We have always been blessed. No matter how bad it gets, we always survive.

Those Katrina Cottages! Yep, we have lots of those here too. Some people make them look really cute out here with landscaping but most of them look like a tiny, brightly covered shed. In New Orleans though, they don't fit the usual architecture.

I'm surprised Allstate is even still in coastal Mississippi. They pulled out of New Orleans after Katrina leaving many people to rely on the insanely expensive insurance offered through the state.

Do you mind sharing your yearly homeowner's and flood premiums? My Homeowners through USAA was $2500 a year, a steal compared to the state's $4000 a year and my flood was $1148 last year. Absolutely outrageous and we both know, a hell of a lot of money to pay knowing that we would have to fight tooth and nail for a penny should a disaster happen again.

My husband understands this stuff better than I do but I'm looking at the Annual Escrow Disclosure Statement that came in the mail just the other week to let us know about the new shortage and payments.

I'm put what that says and hopefully it answers your question...lol.

Hazard Insurance is $2,604.
FR HUD Risk (Is this flood?) is $372.
County tax is $756.

If that is flood, I feel lucky compared to y'all.

Hrm, I don't know if that's flood or not! If it is, that's a good deal! Ha!
