Hey baby, it's 3AM - I must be lonely

I'm kinda bummed out right now. Here I am, working my a of in the hospital for 15 hours a go, 5-6 days a week, thinking the future is going to be bright and grand. Well it isn't. How do I know it isn't? 'Cause someone just told me ( Read more... )

Rich, if I had to place my faith in anyone to get into that business, make it work, and make it as fair and amiable as possible for patients - I'd easily be placing that faith in you. If anyone can pull off a happy (and human) balance in all that, it'll be you. You'll make it work.

I found that in the three different career choices I have (sort of) pursued that in everyone there is someone to tell you that it is the hardest job and you don't get payed nearly enough for what you do. It's like they take the same speech and just insert whatever job they do into it. I'm not saying you future career isn't going to hard, hey I could never do what you do, and it probably is more work then most other things. The one thing I've noticed about people is that if they really love doing something then they will enjoy it no matter how hard it is.

You know you already have three patients lined up, right?

Plus, I understand about primary care physicians. It's always those of us on the front lines who get screwed. Even in education- elementary teachers don't make as much as high school teachers, even though we put in the same time, and one could argue, have to "know" more. But it's the idea that because we're just doing the basics with small children, it's not worth as much as specializing, when, I could argue, it's even more important.

Being a hero isn't working out for you? Give the other side a try. hollow_01 September 9 2004, 09:46:24 UTC
I think you're getting tunnel vision, Rich.

Here, let me help:

PROBLEM: You need money and your current career course is steering you into a much needed, but far less respected field than your comparable peers. The position does not have a high enough overhead cost to cover the outbound expenses.

RESOURCES: You have a medical background and access to all sorts of technocratic gear.

SOLUTION: Create a super-virus, the vaccine for said super-virus and proceed to infect the populace. You need to create a broader market for your services while also cutting your labor time.

"Ahhh... I see that your skin has turned purple. I have the shot for that right here. *pop* See me 6 times over the course of the next two years for your boosters and you should be cured."

"Next!"
