Neil and I took flowers to church yesterday.  One for each of those near to our hearts who have traveled ahead of us.  We added our flowers to the cross next to our memorial garden.  The church service started out there.  Memorial Day always makes me realize how fortunate I am to have had such wonderful people in my life ( Read more... )

Growth of much green stuff.  While mowing the north meadow the other day, I couldn't help but notice all the places that have vegetation that needs to be cut down.  Along the railroad tracks for example.  Right now that border is made up (mostly) of six foot high dead teasel from last summer.  Not lovely.  There is also all that stuff - mostly ( Read more... )

Yesterday afternoon a frantic young woman ran up to my front door.  She said she had to park in my driveway because her boyfriend had gone over the bank.  I threw on my jacket and followed her.  North of my house a few hundred yards the road curves around the hill above the railroad tracks.  It's an amost sheer drop 25-30 feet down to the tracks.  ( Read more... )

The west slope needs it.  On the other hand I spent portions of the past two days mowing the north meadow and weeding my section of yard at the church.

The day is young.  Maybe I'll have a second cup of coffee and read a library book for a bit and then decide.

I spent a hummy morning doing indoor chores and several loads of laundry.  Then Neil and I went to Bi-Mart.  We picked up the stuff we'd gone for and then looked at fishing flies.  Bi-Mart has them in a compartmented set of drawers on top of the counter in the outdoor stuff section.  It was fun pulling out the drawers and looking at all the ( Read more... )

The battered red pick-up trundled down my driveway yesterday afternoon.  So nice to see Neil and Sara again!  Neil visited his father and sister while he was gone.  His dad is doing great.  Gail has an infection in both ears, was in her jammies and robe on the couch and was miserable.  She's been on an antibiotic for several days but wasn't feeling ( Read more... )

A month ago I stepped on the scales and discovered I had gained eight pounds.  I'm happy with a BMI of 21.0 so I've been dieting to get back down there.  I've adjusted to feeling a little hungry most of the time and I've lost six pounds.  Yesterday, I was as hungry as a bear.  This morning I was up a pound ( Read more... )
