why, yes, I actually DID get my geek on again )

Somehow I had completely missed your SPN meta posts - as in failed to see rather than pined for. Though now that I have experienced some of the glory I will begin pining. :D
First of all, you write this in a captivating, excited voice that is absolutely contagious. But mostly I admire how you've brought all this crazy esoteric stuff within my reach, so I too can squee about this entirely new (to me) Reason Why SPN Rocks. Just the idea that they have enough respect for their viewers and/or enjoy the geekage that much, makes me want to crush Dean The Show to my bosom ( ... )

It's been a little while since I've been clear-headed enough to do this sort of entry. Reading up on alchemy (Western and otherwise) has been a long-time hobby of mine. It's where science started and I'm just fascinated by it and how it developed over time ( ... )

Hot damn. I love when I can pass along info to folks who might not otherwise have access to the source materials. I'm so happy you dug this. Thank you. :D

This is of course brilliant -- and since I caught up on the last few weeks' eps last night, I was able to read this entry today on my way back down my friends list. (Now I just need to catch last night's ep, which I missed...)

I only just had a chance to watch the most recent ep. More symbols showed up which I definitely recognized. My hope is to be getting my geek on again come Tuesday, or possibly even Monday afternoon following tomorrow's interview. (Depends on how tired I am.)

I'm just glad you dug this. I remain convinced that at least someone along the way is doing a bit of research -- there's too much that shows up in SPN which just fits too neatly with the easy-to-find and completely legit (for this sort of woo-woo material, anyway) resources out there. And the fact that at least someone is making that sort of effort makes the show all the more delightful for me.

Hi. Not a stalker. Mostly. Just found you again after having read your research on the diagram from IMToD yonks ago, and losing track of you meanwhile. Anybody that willing to research arcane stuff for a tv show has my interest.

It's absolutely a pleasure to have you around. I have an interview for a job tomorrow, but I hope to futz around Tuesday with the next round of geekage about the symbols we saw in the most recent SPN ep.

The thing is? As an archaeologist who stepped back from her PhD program to snag a quick chemistry degree, I absolutely delight in reading about alchemy and related esoterica. It's where actual science began and it's just endlessly fascinating to me. As such, a lot of this stuff I slam up is either from books I have handy or links already bookmarked on my computer -- it's just a matter of remembering which texts or authors covered the info I know I've read somewhere when I recognize something spiffy on SPN.

Totally my pleasure to reciprocate the friending. *g* I look forward to making your OL acquaintance. Cheers!

Well, thank you so much. *g* I'm always so happy to provide background info on the stuff I read up on for fun (alchemy is one of my completely guilty pleasures as a scientist because it's where modern Western science as we know it had its start) to other folks who might find it equally of interest but simply haven't had the time to look into the subjects the way I have ( ... )
