somehow, the translations are so different from one an other...
I've read about 4 different lyric translations of this song until yet...
when I read the lyrics first time, i thought: wtf, because i didn't know who he meant xD
but it left much space for everyone's own interpretation...
(i think, the main character in this song is the distress, and he sings to the girl (the coma) but well xD''' just own thoughts...)
but I personally think, it has nothing to do with abuse in relationship~
somehow, his words are too gentle for this szenario~
it is more like fairytale story...

The lyrics themselves are very vague to me, like you said. There's a definite distance in the word choice. Because of that this is one of those songs that I'd have to look at for a long time to really see it any other way than what's been presented to me.
Your idea of an abusive relationship seems so straight forward in the lyrics, almost like it's "too good to be true" you know? It's a very obvious concept I guess. Not that that's a bad thing. I wonder if there's anything deeper than that...
