[Lyrics] DISTRESS AND COMA

Mar 31, 2009 22:13

In order to escape the horrors of Propositional Logic, I decided to use the recently scanned DISTRESS AND COMA booklet to translate the title track a little earlier than I anticipated.

This song is extremely sad. In a way, it's numbing - fitting the theme and title of the piece perfectly. It depicts a kind of pain that is hard to escape from, and ( Read more... )

ok, this songs causes some confusions v__v
somehow, the translations are so different from one an other...
I've read about 4 different lyric translations of this song until yet...

when I read the lyrics first time, i thought: wtf, because i didn't know who he meant xD
but it left much space for everyone's own interpretation...
(i think, the main character in this song is the distress, and he sings to the girl (the coma) but well xD''' just own thoughts...)

but I personally think, it has nothing to do with abuse in relationship~
somehow, his words are too gentle for this szenario~
it is more like fairytale story...

Thank you for translating and thank you also for sharing your perspective on these lyrics, it's really very interesting.

The lyrics themselves are very vague to me, like you said. There's a definite distance in the word choice. Because of that this is one of those songs that I'd have to look at for a long time to really see it any other way than what's been presented to me.

Your idea of an abusive relationship seems so straight forward in the lyrics, almost like it's "too good to be true" you know? It's a very obvious concept I guess. Not that that's a bad thing. I wonder if there's anything deeper than that...

Thanks for your translation and taking the time to analyze these lyrics as well, it's a thought provoking work. ♥

Interesting interpretation. I don't have an interpretation for this song but to me, it's all very metaphorical, even the "coma" part. You know how people in a coma can supposedly sense/hear everything that's around them but can't respond? I get that feeling from this song, which is why I really liked the title too. uh. yeah. man, I'm bad at explaining myself *facedesk*

PS. you made me google "propositional logic" x_x
