yes, it's based off of the character's name, so it basically means Don-Quixote-like...

"Quixote" itself is a word

Which also comes from the name. That was pretty ostentatious of you to try to belittle me with that statement, i'm not a fucking idiot.

it's pretty moronic of you to say that "quixotic" is defined as "Don-Quixote-like"... if you wanted to sound like you knew ANYTHING you would have pointed out what characteristic of Don Quixote the term refers too... the term "quixotic" does not imply "middle-aged man" but rather his concern with noble deeds....

as for accusing me of ostentation, I find it pathetically pretentious to try to impress your ex-girlfriend with your quasi-impeccable wit... a failed attempt, might I add...

as quixotic as it may seem, I wasn't going to mention how pitiful you appeared, because I felt sorry for you... but if you have the nerve to call me ostentatious, I say you more than deserve to be reminded that YOU NO LONGER DATE SHAUDEE!!! GET A LIFE!!!!

yeah it is from Don Quixote

Quixote= visionary
quixotic= like romantic, noble, almost self-righteous

I also should point out that quixotic in no way means self-righteous, it is more of an impulsive emotion. If you mean to imply that Don Quixote was at all self-righteous, then you need to go back and read the story again.
