WOTW?

Aug 24, 2015 23:18

Guys, I'm not sure what to do about this.... 3 weeks ago we had two voters. I was busy that night and was going to post it the next day but forgot, which then turned into making it a double post the following week. That Monday came around and we only had two voters again. Yet again, I forgot. Last week no one voted. Same as this weekend. So... I ( Read more... )

How about you roll those credits back into your asshole. This movie just got greenlit for a sequel!

Hey I am all for it being resurrected, but its going to take more than a Tom Cruise-a-thon to breathe life back.

When I get you down on your knees Jason Krowe, I'm going to ask you one question: 'Do you want to live forever?'

And if your answer is yes, then breath your last breath into my body, I can save you! The Natural Born Cruisers can save you!

Nothing happens until after this weekend. cWo Midwest Meetup at Wrigley, with me, An-day, and I think Stevewille and X-Pac Heat. Boo-ya. Also, I can barely actually post here when I try, which is why I'm breaking kayfabe here.

Wrigley Field should have been razed about 60 years ago

You can't find a more outdated and unimpressive place. It's old and has vegetative walls. Wow.

Chicago is a city that loves keeping history alive, like how they keep all their blacks segregated in the south side. It's just like stepping back in time.

That's another thing I could spend about 3,000 words on. Property worship! Historical places!

You think for one second that Hadrian had an ounce of concern when he was building gymnasiums and temples across the Roman Empire? "Sire, this would be the ideal real estate to build the new Temple of Zeus in Judea." "Thus says the Emperor: we mustn't build the temple there for that is the place of Ezra's rock garden, built 80 years ago! Think of the historical implications!"

No, Hadrian blew that shit up and built better things. He knew that time is relative and we must progress.

So start boycotting the decrepit confines of Wrigley and start hoping for something nice with modern convenience

You know, I was doing some jump squats this morning while I surfed the World Wide Web, and I came across the biggest bunch of nonsense. Today is Dog Day. The whole day, not just the afternoon ( ... )

As barbaric as days gone by truly were, I think they had the right idea when they sacrificed animals. Somehow, someway we went from slaughtering animals to the gods, to making animals the gods. Just another pagan ( ... )

Tom Cruise is here to save the world. Dude never lets us down. Except for Lions for Lambs. What was with that giant turd, Tom?

Thoughts on the return of Fedor? What do you think should happen with Fedor vs. what you think will eventually happen with him?

To be honest, MMA has lost a lot of its charm for me. I'll occasionally watch the stuff, but I long for the days when the sport was more diversified. The prizefighters have gotten better but a lot of the enjoyment has been sucked out.

Fedor? He should get his Sting moment and find his way to UFC for an appropriate send off coated thick with nostalgia. Sign him to fight Cro Cop or whatever. Or Overeem. Those three could move the needle a little for Zuffa in Japan if that's the route they wanted to pursue, but why would they?

I'm in the loop enough to discuss what Bellator can offer him as opposed to Zuffa, or if he'll end up on the next Frankenstein NYE show in Japan fighting whoever.

There is a sense of nostalgia in me for the style-vs-style days, but overall I think I prefer the modern fight game.

I'm reminded of this when I go back and watch an early UFC or Pride show and see the fights that AREN'T considered classics -- they're considerably more boring than today's boring fights. Stuff like Arona laying on a dude throwing shoulders from half guard, or Tito laying in Wanderlei's guard for 25 minutes, or Severn/Kimo.

Maybe I just grew up. But the interest isn't there anymore. MMA is a sport that has a face like boxing, tennis, etc. Where you need personalities and styles to sell fights ( ... )
