Dilemas of no particular seriousness

I'm facing a dilema; do I change my LJ username? For £7 I can simply have my rudelypinioned name redirect to the new one, rather than it be deleted. However, I can't decide if I'm just creating the account just so I'm the owner of it, or if I really want it. But I don't just want to create another reserved, dead account. Hmmm ( Read more... )

Don't feel that all girls are the same... You know I'm not like that! I think you're great, I really do - you're fun and interesting... you understand my kind of humour, as not many do... You like fandom, understand why slash (and WEIRD slash at that) is king... And you manage to do it all without being creepy and obsessed to the point of scaring me, like so many do *laughs* That don't make you odd, just super cool ^_ ( ... )

Hehe, I'm very relieved that I don't come across as scarily creepy and obsessed - not that I am obviously but.. yeah :p That's really cool how you got to have a long conversation about fandoms... and the POV letter!! I usually babble out something about "the love" of some kind and people go "uh, yeah" and we swiftly move on, haha! I'm glad you have the confidence now to speak your mind and be yourself, cause no one should have to hold themselves back from being themselves. (unless you're Ed Gein. *shudders at channel 4 programme on tonight*)

The trouble with Worthing is that there are rather a lot of chav types here in comparison to relatively-sane-but-wacky types! I need to start sticking notices on trees for directions to a Secret Seven type club! :p

Ooh, cheers - you just reminded me to watch that! I watched the 4x23 (416) episode makingamochrie pointed out, but I forgot that one! *runs off to watch*

Oh, and - ICON LOVE! :D

Well, we're all a bit creepy and obsessed... But some people take it to another level... the extreme! Maybe they're just hormonal teens or something, but boy, some of the people I've met... have serious issues o_0 Incidentally, did you finish recording all of the fifty songs in Whose Line US season 3? *sticks tongue out* I'm kidding, I'm kidding! Actually I think that's pretty cool, I quite like compiling things myself... you know, making databases and lists and stuff... It's like trying to organise the madness! ^_ ( ... )

It's strange how some people have large majorities of either male or female friends.. I wonder if that's to do with upbringing, individual personality or what.. *late night insomnia thinking*

Hahaha, I bet that was a task and a half! How many did you find? :p

I used to have mostly male friends when I was younger, but the older I got, the more female friends I got until I now only have... jeez, I think it's one guy friend, and he's gay. ^_^ But I'm also a lesbian, and most of my female friends are also gay/bisexual/tomboys, so, for me, I think it was a matter of getting out of my home town and finding people like myself.

Also, I was horribly shy when I was younger. I've gained a hell of a lot more confidence over the years, and I think that attracts people.

What do you want to change your LJ name to?

Yeah, I guess it is a matter of one's life [gradually or not] moving in a different direction and changing a bit as a person. And I'm glad you've gained more confidence and have friends you can relate to and be yourself with :)

That would be telling! ;) Something Greg related (nothing unoriginal like gregproopsfan459), but something related. I don't like creating obviously fandom related names as my tastes seem to change and evolve and my LJ is very permanent. Although rudelypinioned is a snippet of a lyric by The Decemberists and Red/Redlum is XFiles inspired so I'm contradicting myself a lot!

Oooh, those adverts are so annoying. There was one about a cream that hides scars but I didn't see a scar on the "actress"! You would think that advertising companies would hire acne-ridden youth as examples rather than models with perfect skin. That is, if the creams actually worked!

We had those types too. Somewhat strange that the idolised, "perfect" girls at school were so good a Sport (which was once seen as quite a masculine subject!). I was going to say something about how quite a few of the full timers are the loud, smoking, somewhat grown-up-chav-like types, but that's pretty unfair to judge them like that. I shall convert them to my fantastic comedy tastes and make everything ok :p

I'm sort of the opposite right now. I used to have exclusively male friends and now it's mostly females. I actually connect more with people I meet online (no pun intended) and I seem to get to know them so well, I forget that I don't know them in real life. *shrugs* Yeah, I'm odd. *wanders off*

For me it goes about fifty/fifty between male and female friends in real life. Which is very odd, because on LJ I don't think I even have any guys on my friendslist. I think, as soon as you get into slash, it's a woman's world.

And you were an X-files fan? Did you ever write any fic?

I was twelve when I discovered Xfiles, but I wasn't a shipper so the only piece of fic I wrote was when I was thirteen... "Scully Meets Pokemon". Nuff said :\
