Saturday, the eventful highlight of the weekend was a bit rushed but highly enjoyable. Complex social machinations had us on the road immediately after The Mikado let us out of its very-modernised pop-Savoy experience, for windwalkr's pre-birthday party up north. catelina likes to say that moving out of your comfort zone helps concentration (she studies at the dining table by the heater, so I don't know how that works). I'm on campus trying this on for size. My old key still works, my old swipecard still

We spent most of the weekend on the road. On Friday afternoon we drove north-west from Brisbane to Kenilworth for a family birthday dinner at L'escapade, a charming, remote, half-fixed up restaurant. For kicks, we'd borrowed jelashke's family's GPS system and spent most of the trip with one eye on the continual recalculation caused by our mish-mash

Did anyone spot the glaring hole in my understanding of mobile phones and sim cards, during the rant that was my post:
Apparently, the mapping from sim cards to phone numbers is one-to-one.
Optus hadn't switched my phone number from my old sim card to the 3G sim card. The retail folk didn't tell me it needed to be done when they handed it over,

I got my iPhone today at 2:45pm, after 2.5 weeks of Optus' "rain check policy." (Their RCP == "You don't get it, but we'll bill you right away. And charge you termination fees.") I took it home and, with their instructions in mind, connected it to itunes, registered and updated it.

I almost saw The Dark Knight yesterday. There was almost Hogsbreath for lunch and there was a plan on paper to farm trash in Sunwell Plateau. None of these things happened; time is so scarce.
Instead, we had drinks and cakes at the Shingle Inn at Garden City, picked up a group to grind Serpentshrine

I was going to respond to a friend's post about iPhone availability in America, AT&T and retailers being rude by omission, but a ten line comment stating 'news' may as well be a post on its own. :)
The iPhone situation around here is funny, because it contrasts a really nice product from one company with really crappy service, retail and marketing
