I so agree with the discomfort you felt over the pumpkin pie names. For the life of me I couldn't figure out where it came from and once I found out I was kinda dissapointed that the same people who come up brilliantly researched and written essays could not come up with something better instead of something I'm sorry to say I consider somewhat lame: pumpkin pie. Just no. Uh uh

I hate the term pumpkin pie. I really do. I had originally used much stronger words in my above rant, but I toned it down for the sake of, well, approximate civility. My annoyance is that great.

And heck yeah! The scene in which Ron looks hopefully up at Moody, waiting for the same compliment bestowed upon Harry and Hermione, perfectly summarizes the trio. Harry and Hermione are at a level above everyone else; the aurors are elite. And then you have Ron, the personification of lazy mediocrity, wanting to get the same accolades as his friends but obviously falling short of them.

That scene practically represents the ship wars! Harmonians supporting the H/Hr auror side, and Herons pushing Ron's undeserving, mediocre character to be something he's obviously not.

Blech.

I'm glad you like the other ship names. I'm thinking of iconizing them myself. *grins* It's just so easy to make those up while staying within the bounds of canon. It's ridiculous. We don't have to make up crap like Cowering!Hermione, Abusive!Harry, Hero!Ron and

I love all your reasons AND all the names for the R/Hr and H/G ships. I have a friend who says she'll always be on HMS Pumpkin Pie. I don't know why she dislikes HMS Harmony but apparently she's loyal to this piece of fan fiction *shrugs* I much prefer Harmony because it IS based in canon. That's something I can back 100%, just as I back and trust and believe in H/Hr 100%. So call me a proud Harmonian. I can't wait until July 16th. I'm being good and not reading people's spoilers...*battens down the hatches*

It's fun coming up with more canon ship names for VOMIT/OBHWF. After posting the rant, I came up with about ten more names just for kicks, and I found that I couldn't stop. There's just so much to make fun of, it's absolutely ridiculous. :P

As for your Pumpkin Pie-loving friend... *sighs wearily* I will never understand her perspective. Why should one scene in a piece of fanfiction get the full glory of the ship name and the ship supporters? I just don't buy it, for reasons I've already clearly stated. But I'm so glad to hear you're a Harmonian through and through! *hugs*

And it's good that you're resisting the temptation, but the closer we get to HBP, the harder it gets... :P Good luck with that one.

I've just got a habit of the whole Pumpkin thing. Been working on getting rid of it though. :P

Haha. I changed my buddy list groups for the H/Hr friends from Pumpkinites/Pumpkin Pie-ers to Harmonians...Now I need to do the same for my LJ friends filter for my fellow shippers...

I even considered changing that part of my Fiction Alley Park signature to HMS Harmony instead of HMS Pumpkin Pie...^^

I even used to have Pumpkin Pie icons with that text on them here, but it's been a while since I deleted the last one, mainly because they weren't ones I had made for myself and such.

HMS Harmony works much better and totally trumps "Heron." The first time I saw "Heron" in print I thought someone was taking a pot-shot at R/Hr shippers. Imagine my surprise when I learned that they actually refer to THEMSELVES as such.

Of course, I am slightly hypocritical, since I refer to H/Hr as "the w00blets" for no reason except that called them that once and it sent me into a fit of hysterical giggles.

WTF is right. The only other HP fandom-related thing that makes me go WTF is everything that VOMITers/OBHWFers spew out against Harmonians. Not exactly genius company there. The pumpkin pie part of the H/Hr shipping fandom annoys me because it just doesn't represent us. It's NOT who we are. We're not fanon-deluded "Pumpkinites." We're canon-oriented Harmonians. *sighs*

I always hated the name Pumpkin Pie as well. I don't remember the first time I heard of it, but I'm pretty sure I laughed.

I only got into the thick of shipping a few months ago and it was nice to see that there was an H.M.S. Harmony. Harmonians also seem to be the crème de la crème of H/Hr shippers. Well, from what I've seen so far anyway. And I've really got Harmonians, especially everyone at AMW and the Harmony forums, to thank for making me the shipper I am today. :)

Laughing is precisely the reaction you don't want when you say you ship Harry/Hermione. That's almost reason enough to hate the words "pumpkin pie." :P

I don't really want to separate H/Hr shippers into factions (creme de la creme Harmonians vs. Pumpkinites? o_O) because I'd rather we all stay united than divided. But I have to admit that I love the company of the ex-Amadorians and Harmonians at the HF forums. Why else would I hang out there almost exclusively? I'm glad AMW and HF made a difference for you somehow!

They affected me quite deeply as well. :P
