So, the summer haul begins. The garden is in - already taking out lettuce and radishes (any pgh folks want some radishes? turns out my taste buds haven't matured THAT much). Everything else but the beans are doing well. I guess the beans didn't like my soil amendments. Hope they hang in there ( Read more... ) -
projects update
1) the garden is coming along. Tons of work. Put in the low fieldstone retaining walls. Put in a fence (looks good, I think) and just need to add a wire mesh- component and gates but that can wait. Next I need to put in the path and till the soil (with lots of compost). Then I can finally start to plant ( Read more... ) -

Damn it anyway
What's really frustrating is all of the idiots who will now say nuclear power is unsafe and should be abandoned. The reactors they are building today are INCAPABLE of meltdown and could be tossed down a cliff without any danger. Instead of not building any, we should be building twice as many and taking the old peices of shit that can malfunction ( Read more... ) -

So, my son has asked me for a while now to run a game for he and his friend. Including my own spawn there are four of them that come over after school twice a week. I have always resisted, being the curmudgeony dad that I am. So Amy decided she would run a game for him. Yet another reason the passing of time sucks.
It used to be that if I stopped exercising at most I would feel sluggish or weak. Not so any more. I stopped doing yoga a few months back. Three weeks ago I completely threw out my back. Chiropractor finally took x-rays. Seems my back has been deteriorating for years, but the yoga kept it straight. He's fixing the problems, and I'm getting ( Read more... ) -

Cats. Cats are just awesome. I came home yesterday to a vague unpleasant odor in the bedroom. I couldn't locate it. The windows were open and I thought it was the garbage can outside. So. Back from vacation. Damnedest thing happened on the way back. I was spending my yearly father's day on the road home from the beach. We stopped at a rest stop somewhere in WV. So, now that the weather is heating up, my mind turns to finishing the backyard. Last year I put up the deck and turned concrete pad into a fieldstone-ish patio.
