Stiff fingers
So being the awesome wife that I am, in the midst of house maintenance and baby care, I'm typing up the front matter (table of contents) for Nik's dissertation. I haven't spent this long typing on a computer in such a long time that my fingers are actually cramping up and are becoming quite sore. -
Presidential politics
I hate it when a politician decides to use scientific spending as an example of wasteful government spending. Watching highlights from the Saddleback Forum, McCain used the example of studying the DNA of bears in the Pacific Northwest as wasteful government spending. Dr. Horrible and Objectivism
So Nik and I watched Dr. Horrible again yesterday, and he pointed something out to me that got the philosophical gears of my brain working (some of you might not know that I was 2 classes away from a 2nd degree in philosophy in undergrad). Photography
So part of my goal in association with taking time away from science is to develop my photography. I've learned a lot in the past year, but I'm hoping I can learn more and develop it into income (besides partnering with Nik for wedding photography). Large families
So with the introduction of cable back into my life, I saw a couple episodes of Jon & Kate plus 8. The great revelation this morning was that my mother comes from a family that was larger (10 kids), but more spread out (no multiples in that family. Well, all my paperwork is now submitted for my PhD, and as far as I know, there's nothing now that can keep me from graduating next month. -

I just managed to impale the palm of my left hand with 2 fondue forks and then burn two of my fingertips on a cast iron skillet within about 30 minutes. Go me!
