LJ Idol: Black Rainbow

Feb 06, 2022 19:41

The outer layer is bluish-gray. Cadet blue, Crayola called it. It's the usual place we reside. A soft place. Not too bright, no sharp edges. Indistinguishable from normality because it is normal for us. Joy can reach us here though. A quiet kind of joy, but still ( Read more... )

I'm glad you are ok. And sometimes gray is ok as long as you can come out to see the sun!

I should change it as it's been there forever but I can't! It was too much fun petting Isaac, the seal at the New England Aquarium! Glad it makes you happy!

I am glad you are okay now but sometimes it really is like that and it's sad and scary.

Yeah, I had a bad day last week so I started to analyze it and then it turned into this and then I decided "hey, why don't I sign up for Idol this go-round and write run-on sentences?" :)

Gray can be beautiful - there's a lot to find in the shades of gray. But comfort can also be detrimental sometimes. I like the way this is framed a lot, as a journey between the colors, and the colors that you chose. There is the gray-gray, but on the outermost layer, the blue even has the tinge of gray in it. I do find myself wondering, though... is it really the outer layer that's tinged with gray? Or is it just the outermost layer that is known? I feel like there must be a place where there's all color and no gray. But then, maybe that place is just as much to handle as the all-black.

I enjoyed this piece a lot. :)

Thank you! Yes, ruts can be comfortable but they're still ruts.

I loved the cadet blue crayon until Crayola introduced cerulean (bright-bright blue) and I tossed cadet aside.

I really like this - it has layers hidden within its layers, so to speak, and describes...depression...emptiness...life-under-pressure?... so well.

I really hope you are doing well. <3

Well howdy, stranger! How are things with you?

I'm doing fine. I decided to analyze how I was feeling one day and peeled back the layers to find this. It was a dangerous experiment but I think it came out well in the end.

I'm alive, and still going, despite...*flails wildly in all directions*. The past couple of years have lent themselves to a lot of introspection and peeling - not enough Crayola colors for all the weird layers of humanness, sadly.
