Chapter Ten

After the date it almost seemed like everyone’s lives went back to normal. Tommi was getting progressively better, while he still had yet do be diagnosed the symptoms were clearing, his fever was breaking, his nausea seemed gone, and so was his abdomen pain. The doctors were even beginning to think about releasing him. Jonne was still seeing his math teacher everyday after class, and since Bam had once again received detention, he decided to go find Jonne so they could walk home together. It was while he was randomly walking through the halls he ran into Jonne’s math teacher, Ms. Krakar.

“Hey, Ms. Krakar, where’s Jonne? Did you guys finish today already?” Bam’s voice was anxious, something didn’t feel right.

“Brandon, Bam what are you talking about?” Ms. Krakar seemed truly confused.

“Uh, he- he’s been seeing you everyday after school, for extra help. Hasn’t he?” Bam asked.

“No, he hasn’t. I told him too, I have been telling him since they first day he came to me for help, but he hasn’t.” Ms. Krakar’s voice was soft and concerned; Bam began to wonder why he was such an ass to her, in class.

“What? He has been coming home late saying he was with you. Like everyday.” His voice was almost panicky now.

“Bam. Jonne Liimatainen has not been coming to see me everyday he only came once. I’m sorry, but I can’t help you.”

“Uh, well thanks anyway. Oh and uh, I- I’m sorry about how I’ve been treating you know in class. Seriously, and I- I’ll get the guys to you know tone it down too.” Bam seemed completely sincere and it made Ms. Krakar smile.

“Thanks Bam.”

“Yeah, no prob. but I got to go.”

“Sure, but Bam don’t use that board till I can’t stop you Okay?” Her words made Bam smile.

“Sure.” Bam nodded and took off heading away from the soft math teacher, and as soon as she was far enough away, he hopped on his skateboard. Not being able to see any reason for Jonne to stay in the school and not be getting any help he headed outside. Once outside he knew right where to look. The smoking pit.

“You have got to be fucking kidding me!” Bam’s voice was loud and traveled right to Jonne and Chavez brothers. The blonde looked up immediately.

“Oh shit.”

“Your right its ‘oh shit’. I cannot believe you! All this time we have been thinking you were better, getting help in math, dealing with all the stress, actually having a really good relationship with Ryan. Yet all this time, all this fucking time, you have been here, with these fuck ups, smoking who knows what and snorting coke. Cocaine Jonne! How stupid can you possibly get! The one drug Ryan holds hatred above all others. I can not fuckin’ believe you.” Bam’s voice was cold, and harsh. Before Jonne had time to retaliate Bam walking away. He was going to beat Jonne home it would be the only way to get everyone to believe him. It was then he decided that it was things like this that the cell phone was invented for.

“Hello?” April’s voice seemed annoyed.

“Mom?”

“Mom? Bam honey, what’s wrong?” The annoyance melted away to worry.

“It’s Jonne. He’s back into drugs, I saw him smoking something, not sure. Then I saw him snort some cocaine. He- he’s back in the drugs we have to do something. Everything is so close to getting back to normal.”

“Bam, are you sure? Absolutely positive?”

“Yeah, I ran into Ms. Krakar as well. She says that after the first time Jonne stayed after school was the last she saw him after class. He hasn’t been staying with her.”

“Alright, Bam, I’m going to let you go. I’m going to get all of your friends, Ville and Phil here and fill them in. Then I’m going to call a rehab. Jonne is not going to get out of this.”
“Okay, I’ll be home soon. I’m on Elm and King. Bye.”

“Bye Hon.”

The phone snapped closed as Bam crossed the street. After five or so minutes, Bam was slamming the front door closed.
