Our 10 minute phone call pretty much made my night. And I was at a party.
He stopped my defense mechanism ("Well, I should probably get going..") right in its tracks by actually wanting to talk.
You are not a phone person. I know that. I was ready for that.
Selfishly, I like being the one he treats differently.

"How do you know so much Japanese already?" asks the one classmate who surprises me every time he speaks with Kumagai-sensei.
I thought to myself, I do? Since when?
I am not particularly fabulous when speaking in class, but I was delighted just the same.

Leaving my Japanese workbook pages at home, thus turning in only a third of my homework
Getting off the train and realizing I had forgotten my pass at home (Yet another ride I've taken for free..)

Even though I didn't get inside my house until 1:30 this morning, I still managed to change out of my jeans and turn off the light before sleeping like a brick.

I often wish I learned things quickly. I wish everything would just slam into my face, and I would know things--even if my nose was throbbing from the impact.
That way I wouldn't have to question, have to tread the waters, or have to learn from my mistakes.
But where is the fun in that?
