Chapter 28 Kevin’s phone vibrated repeatedly, for the twentieth time or so since three minutes ago. Reaching for the fallen phone, he checked the caller ID and sighed. Kibum had called him relentlessly, probably to drive him to the next appointment. Switching off his phone without calling back, he then stood up, wiping away his tears roughly.
He didn’t trust himself to talk or even text Kibum in this state. He was not supposed to-no, he cannot, fall in love with a customer. He just can’t, it just couldn’t happen.
It was a foreign feeling, to be honest. Kevin never knew what it would be like, for he hadn’t expected it to happen on someone like him. Someone like him was never meant to fall in love, never meant to understand what lovers see in each other’s eyes. Someone like him was meant to stay alone and die alone, never meant to realise what the power of two could achieve.
Someone like him, who has utterly tainted the name of love with his ways, wasn’t meant to love. All the sex he had with men who have families - he was thoroughly tarnishing what had been vowed to the heavens by the once devoted couples. Therefore, love was for him to mock, because love couldn’t feed him.
But when Kibum came strolling into his life like he could walk out just as casually, he came in closer than anyone did. Kevin didn’t like it, the sudden intrusion, the sudden loss of knowledge as to what to do, and the sudden overwhelming emotions claiming him once every now and then. Kibum crept closer with each day, catching him off-guard so often it actually became something he looked forward to.
Those eyes that looked at him like he mattered, those lips that taught him how to kiss, and those hands that touched him all over so gently as if he would break otherwise. Kevin couldn’t do a thing against these features of Kibum that trapped him in a spell, and every time he looked into those eyes, he fell deeper. Those kisses, sometimes gentle, sometimes fiery, yet always leaving him breathless. The hands that got him writhing, the very same hands that held onto the curves of his body and always so tenderly caressing.
Those affectionate acts they shared, those knowing looks they exchanged, those heated sex they had. And he remembered those simple moments like Kibum buying him Teddy and bringing him to watch the clouds. Even that time in the desserts shop was memorable, however small an incident it had seemed.
Those nights when he slept alone and couldn’t slip into slumber, those texts they sent that had nothing to do with work, those days they sank into comfortable silence contented with just each other by their sides. These were all sweet memories that came to his mind so easily, half because he didn’t have any other memories with anyone else.
He had spent more than half his life alone, afterall.
That man that had been with him through one of the toughest time of his life. When he thought he couldn’t walk again, Kibum took care of him and picked him up. That very time when he could break down and feel suicidal, Kibum had told him he was precious.
Precious. Kibum had said the word in a low whisper and with slightly teary eyes, probably having no idea how blissful Kevin felt hearing the sincerity in his voice. To know he was worth something more than just money to someone in the world.
However, no, he couldn’t love this man. Nothing good would come out of this. Kibum might be too nice for his own good but it didn’t mean he felt the same, it didn’t mean that Kevin could just throw himself on the older man and expect his love to be reciprocated. And even if luck gave him a smiling face, that the man he loved had a similar thought, there were still thousands of obstacles before him.
He wouldn’t be able to live with the thought that he was having sex with strangers because they paid.
He wouldn’t be able to live with the thought that he was betraying the only man he had fell in love with.
The walk back to the dormitory was long, and lonely.
-
“Just relax.” The older man’s voice had a soothing tone, hands gently massaging Kevin’s shoulder so he loosened up completely.
Kevin gasped, clenching his fist around the blankets beneath him. With both heels of his feet digging their way into the bed, knees bent in agony, Kevin cried sharply once more.
“Leave everything to me today.” Kibum spoke quietly, straddling the younger man beneath him and then biting Kevin’s earlobe lightly.
His hands roamed around his naked body, trying desperately to replace the lingering feeling of Kibum’s hands with his own instead. Kevin’s length was already throbbing for attention, situation worsened with all the images of Kibum touching him in his head.
With a roaming tongue as if to soothe the scratches he had caused, Kibum then returned to leave open-mouthed kisses on the shell of Kevin’s ear. “Everything, to me.”
Resisting but unable to resist any longer, he harshly grabbed his own length and pumped it hurriedly. He still remembered the moist feeling of Kibum’s mouth surrounding his heated member, tongue tracing unrecognisable patterns that had him moaning for more. The friction did nothing to distract him, only further reminding him of how much better Kibum’s mouth felt around him as compared to his own hand. Biting his lower lip harshly as if that could chase out all the mental images he had, Kevin shut his eyes tightly and saw Kibum swallow his cum.
Gasping, he remembered those dazzling smiles sent his way.
Writhing, he saw the intense look those eyes always had.
Moaning, he felt sweet kisses trail down his tensed body.
Reaching his climax by releasing his load over his sweaty figure with an arch of his back, Kevin cried harder, tears falling so quickly they wet his pillow faster than his cum did to his bed. His mind should have been incoherent from the strong sensation taking over, yet all he could think of was Kibum pressing a kiss on his forehead before hugging him to sleep. Kevin then smeared his release messily over his legs, sitting up to hug himself as if hiding his body from someone’s view.
In all truths, it was his only way of self-comfort, because denial couldn’t save him.
Nothing he did could get the older man out of his mind. He had fallen too deeply in love and he found out too late. Things had gotten way out of hand from long ago, and the one single thing that he could do was cry.
Bringing his knees closer towards him, circling his arms tighter around himself, Kevin cried along with his breaking heart.
If only, if only he was born to be loved.
-
A silent nod was all that he had seen as a greeting to him. The brothel was treating him a little too casually, Kibum mused, before realising his initial intention of visiting the brothel so early had nothing to do with that. Kevin had disappeared and ignored his calls the day before, and when he called back to the headquarters to ask what he should do, they told him Kevin cancelled the other appointments stating a personal reason they were asked not to disclose.
Kibum didn’t ask further, didn’t say he had seen the younger ten minutes ago and that he had been fine over the phone. Kevin was hiding something from the headquarters and him, and between the two parties, he himself had a greater chance of finding out. It wasn’t as if he trusted himself to be able to break down all barriers Kevin had set up, but the headquarters was such a vague identity that has no face to it and so no one with a right mind would trust it.
“Is Kevin okay?” Kibum asked, looking over the desk. The receptionist gave him a questioning look, before deciding there must have been something wrong before Kibum would come ask such an unusual question. They didn’t usually converse with each other, afterall.
“I’ll check on him for you.” The lady stood up, leaving her desk. She was smart, Kibum nodded, noticing that if Kibum hadn’t went to check on Kevin himself, then she must have been needed to do the exact same job. Besides, Kevin’s only appointment that day wasn’t until six o’clock in the evening and so Kibum doesn’t really have an excuse to visit the younger man.
Watching the receptionist’s back view disappear down the walkway, Kibum then patiently waited on one of the sofa chairs in sight.
Three knocks and a short while, before Kevin opened his door with a stifled yawn covered by his hand. The sleepy eyes watched the receptionist curiously, silently asking if there was anything she wanted to tell him. His messy hair was sufficient to show that the man had been sleeping a few minutes ago, unable to speak coherently yet in this exhausted state.
“Are you okay? Your driver asked about you.” She spoke, deciding that other than Kevin’s tired appearance, there was nothing else that looked unfamiliar.
-
“I’m fine. Tell him I’m fine.” Kevin replied, suddenly more awake at the mention of the older man. He wasn’t sure if Kibum would believe these words, but at least it wouldn’t be him saying them. His disappearance yesterday, though, was enough a reason to have suspicions aroused.
The woman pressed her lips together, looking back at the walkway she walked along as if searching for someone. Nervously, Kevin then peeked his head out, relieved when he couldn’t see the older man at the end of it. “You know, he might want to see you.”
“Tell him I’m sleepy.” Kevin quickly came up with an excuse, yawning once more to persuade the receptionist to leave him alone. When did she become so considerate anyway?
“All right.” She shrugged, then walking away like she didn’t care a bit. Kevin raised an eyebrow at the strange behaviour but decided he didn’t know the brothel’s receptionist enough to know if it was really a strange behaviour. He then quickly locked the door to his dormitory, pressing his lips together as he contemplated whether or not to go back to sleep.
The lady then relayed the message of Kevin being fine and sleepy to Kibum, returning to her desk while Kibum informed that he would be staying around. Maybe Kevin didn’t feel too well but didn’t want Kibum to worry, and so the older man should just give him the sleep he needs. With nothing to do, Kibum then grabbed a magazine off the rack to pass the time.
-
The clock struck noon, and almost at the same time, Kevin emerged from the walkway. The younger had been on his way out when he noticed Kibum sitting there, eyes taking in the content of a magazine he held. Wanting to creep out without the older man noticing and then getting lunch for himself, Kevin tried to avoid the other’s line of sight by standing as far away as he could.
“Kevin, be careful of the vase there.” The receptionist mildly warned, and Kevin cursed his bad luck. The vase he had almost collided with didn’t topple over, but Kibum had raised his head to watch him.
“W-Why are you still here?” Kevin stuttered, widening his eyes when Kibum stood up. Involuntarily taking a step back, Kevin unconsciously avoided the vase and watched the other almost warily.
Kibum blinked at the sudden unfamiliarity sinking between them both. “I’m your chauffeur. Was…thinking of sitting around until your six o’clock appointment.”
The older man wanted to ask if Kevin was going out for lunch and if he wanted to have it together. The body language didn’t make him confident, though, and therefore Kibum kept those words at the back of his head. Kevin sure didn’t look sick, only distant, and Kibum didn’t want to take any chances by asking warm questions out of the blue.
Kevin silently nodded, then leaving the brothel without a word more. No questioning of Kibum if he had eaten, no wondering if they could eat together. Kibum frowned, taking in a deep breath. What had he done wrong?
Even after separate meals during lunch and hours that felt like days to Kibum, Kevin didn’t do a thing to remove the awkwardness between them. It was like Kevin was forced to be with Kibum because the older man was his chauffeur, the younger man even biting his lower lip and swiftly walking to the car.
He had hesitated at the side door leading to the front seat, then entering the car and instantly avoiding Kibum’s line of sight.
Kibum didn’t understand.
It was the fifth month, and everything was falling apart.
-
“Have you eaten?” The man in his mid-forties asked, hand appreciating the escort’s bottom by squeezing it ever so tightly. Kevin bit back a wince, cursing the man for using so much force but smiling sweetly on the outside. He leaned closer, then resting his head on the man’s shoulder before shaking his head. “Why not?”
“I wanted to eat dinner with you.” Kevin replied coyly, batting his eyelashes because this man was the sort that would like this kind of advances. “A candle-lit dinner, some wine, and maybe getting a little bit drunk would make things more fun.”
The man laughed heartily, hugging Kevin’s waist tighter, apparently pleased with the suggestion. He kissed Kevin’s cheeks forcefully, then leading Kevin to his own car that had his own hired chauffeur. Kevin wanted to wipe the wetness on his cheeks away and scowl, but he only giggled slightly, humouring the man.
Kibum would have told him alcohol was bad. Especially the things they do to Kevin, even if he would be so cute being drunk. And because Kevin gets a hangover easier than others, he should abstain from it as much as possible.
Kevin blinked, realising a hand was sliding its way up his thighs. He caught it and shot a cheeky grin towards the man, gently punching his shoulder before looking away as if shy. The man liked his adorable reaction, grabbing his face and then kissing the younger man so vehemently as if he had some vengeance. With an ugly smirk, he then pulled away and released his strong grip on Kevin’s beautiful features.
Grimacing at how he still had to give suggestive nudges throughout the journey, Kevin only wished the place they were going to was near. Why didn’t he suggest them eating at a restaurant in the hotel?
Kibum would know the proper way to kiss him, and not grab his face like it was something that was waiting to be crushed. There wasn’t a hint of gentleness in the touch, and the kiss was as horrible as the man’s breath.
Dinner went by in a flash, the man enthusiastically asking him to finish a bottle of champagne. Kibum would have stopped him.
Sex happened in a hotel nearest to the restaurant because the man couldn’t wait. Kibum would have let him rest in his drunken state.
Only half-conscious, Kevin moaned at the friction he had felt from behind, tugging his own shirt in hopes of getting them off. He was feeling sweaty from all the alcohol that made his body burn, but his flushed face only made the man more turned on, unable to give a damn about his uncomfortable state.
The thrusts made his own erection stand, but all he felt was a chilling cold environment engulf it, the heat from his body too overwhelming. His hands were supporting his weight as the man continued rocking their bodies in a ragged pace, and the man’s hands were holding his hips in place. The man didn’t care about his problem, more concerned about his own, groaning at the way Kevin wriggled his hips for a more comfortable angle.
Kibum would have helped him felt the same relief.
Shallow breaths could be heard from both men, but the position was getting a little too comfortable for Kevin. His eyelids were getting heavier by the second, and because he was so used to sex, he didn’t mind falling asleep at this moment. In fact, it sounded like a very tempting thing to do.
He wasn’t even making any erotic sounds, too caught up with fatigue.
The man bit his ear from the back, an act he considered to be affectionate. Kevin, on the other hand, decided it was a wake-up call, and a very painful one at that. He whimpered instinctively, and the man grinned at the response, thinking the escort liked it.
Kibum would have-
Without meaning to, Kibum had been appearing in his head more than usual. Almost everything that was happening could make Kevin link it to the other man, and this wasn’t how things should play out. Kevin gritted his teeth, forcing himself to like whatever the customer was doing to him.
Maybe doing so could get his mind off that man.
He purred the way he knew how to, then vulgarly begging for the man to move faster, ignoring his neglected length and concentrating on liking the typical sex. Kevin knew the man couldn’t hold on for much more, then driving him towards the edge with more sensual noises.
When the man’s release filled him up, he was left on the bed with his pay on the side table. The customer had his own family to return to, own children to love. A familiar sense of emptiness settled in, with Kevin realising that there was neither a warm body to snuggle up against nor someone to smile at. Because, with a text message, Kevin had earlier told the other man to head home first. He had chased the said man away with his change, chased the said man away with excuses.
He was, afterall, somebody that doesn’t deserve love.

I hope this gives all the reasons why Kevin took 20 over chapters to realise he's in lovelovelove :D
Hope you guys enjoyed the angst, heh :P
