Diveristy in American Education

So, I'm taking this one class: Diveristy, and it's how to accept other cultures, and not be racist, and not be discriminatory and all that sort of stuff. Makes me think of a Bible study I went to this summer. We were, erm, "debating" whether or not teaching tolerance was a good thing. People seemed to think that it was a zero-sum game- that by promoting the rights of others, we were diminishing our "rights as Christians."
Anyway, this guy was bemoaning the fact that at Texas A & M, they have to take a class that teaches that it's okay to be "Muslim, black or homosexual." Imagine the horror when I asked, "What's wrong with being any of those things?"
Hooray for Caitlin, for remembering that people are PEOPLE, and that we are all brothers and sisters in humanity. And thank God we're not all the same.
