It is not about depriving yourself totally, but it definitely is about learning to enjoy those items in moderation or much smaller portions then what you have been used to in the past. CHIN UP YOUNG MAN !!! WE are here for you , and you know that we care very much about you. One day we'll have you all up and it will be a feast of all that you are allowed.
Thanks. I'm getting better. Some days are still harder than others, especially work days. Like today, someone brought doughnuts in. I was good and ate my snap peas, but it's things like that that really get me. We'd love to come up there, feast or not. :)
Do not discount the glory of salads. Some of them are quite tasty and filling as well as being healthy.
And the bright side is that "prediabetic" can be brought back to "normal." Which is much better than being told that, for instance, you're allergic to gluten and milk, as a friend of mine recently discovered. (Of course, she's really happy about this, since she's had intense gastrointestinal issues for her whole life and is, for the first time in her life, pain free. The bummer is that she can't go out to eat without intensely quizzing the waitstaff, or eat most foods from the store.)
But we will be hoping for you. With any luck you and Beemer and the Monkey can come up with some meals that are good for you AND intensely tasty. (Ask goobermunch about mashed cauliflower sometime.)
Thank you. I am working on more salads, I just have to get used to not eating the really fatty dressings anymore. I'm fortunate that I don't have any food allergies thankfully.
Thanks, I'm glad it was found early enough. I've found some things that are still fine that I like, I just have to be more restrained in the amount I eat. Like the nuts that are good for me are ones I like, I just can't sit and eat a half a can of them in one sitting anymore. I'm going to set up an appointment with a dietician and see what they can tell me about the portion control and how exchanges work.
Thanks. Whole grain pastas are something I need to research, I had read something about them being only marginally better than regular pasta. The brown rice I know is what I should eat, I'm just not a big fan, but I'll just have to find a way to fix it that I enjoy.
Thanks. Once I've switched my diet around things should be better though. I'm not sure about the whole wheat pasta, I read something about it being only marginally better than regular pasta, but I'll need to do more research. I'll let you know what I find out.
