One of the best talismans (talismen?) you can hold up to people who are intimidated by you is the sharing of common experiences. It's a temporary fix, because after all, if they think you're weird they think you're weird, and since you don't particularly mind, the temporary fix is all that you require. Speaking of you, odd stories, and novels. I was perusing the library's fiction collection today, when this book pops out at me. It's title? In rather pretty, edwardian script: "Gwen". Just. Gwen The author's last name was Corrigan, I forget his first name. It's set in either Medieval Europe (I think...) and is about a widowed noblewoman with the circumstances of a contemporary, but the mindset of a 21st century woman. I didn't actually pick it up; I was there for a research paper, but I thought it'd interest you, if only for a giggle ( ... )

Is this the one? If so, I may need to see what Mr John F Corrigan has had to say.

Miyazaki hasn't managed to jade me yet, although I have watched Howl's Moving Castle enough times now that, should the power of concentration be readily available, I could play it over in my head. Instead of becoming jaded, though, this has made me pick out little things that I've never seen before, that add an odd dimesion to my watching of the film. I hope that's what happens when I see Spirited Away again....
