I lost a friend somewhere along in the bitterness
A pharmacy student in my class died yesterday.
It was so sudden, and so fucking abrupt - down to how we all found out. We're not in formal classes this last year like we've been the past five - we're all divided up and scattered across the state, completing our various rotations. My preceptor thought it would be a good experience to watch a code blue - cardiac arrest. And, it was, if 'good' can be considered an appropriate word. My rotation sucks so much this month and I still have three more weeks to go. It's disappointing because I really thought I was going to like it; it's an ambulatory care rotation, meaning I'm working at outpatient clinics. I've always wanted to be serenaded by an Irish recorder.
So, I traveled two hours and stayed for six nights at an overnight diabetes camp for one of my rotations last week. I do not have diabetes - but all of the kids have to have diabetes to stay at this camp, and I went as a "med staff" member. And, because I had to in order to pass the rotation, obviously. The woman photographer (it's a husband/wife team) told me to call her right at 7:30, when we'd scheduled the meeting, since she'd have to let us in.
