One Man, One Vote

May 08, 2010 13:13

It's not often I agree with the Financial Times, but they seemed pretty correct in saying "the British public have decided not to decide". With respect to Sir Terry, we right now have a 'one man one vote' system, and Clegg is the man. Yet he can't win, can he?

Certainly, I would never vote for a liberal democrat party that is willing to sell my vote to the tories. If I wanted them, I'd have voted for them. I think a lib/lab minority coalition seems the most likely outcome, with deals made with other parties at the time. I reckon we'll be seeing PM Milliband... I can't see how a liberal democrat coalition with the tories would be anything less than death for the party, and I don't see it being value for money for labour to make term-long deals with parties that only have a couple of seats but will want quite a lot out of a part in government.

Without repeating my post on this, I'm still utterly lost as to the 'War on Brown'. He'd be way way down my list of Lab MPs to banish/shoot/whatever, and even further down if you opened it out to be all parties or include the Lords. There is also a bizarre thing of every time someone loves something about this Labour administration, they praise Blair for it, and every time they want to hate something they blame Brown. ?!?

He a competant policy strategist and financial bod, but stageshy, short on social skills and either not really socialist, or too meek to stand up to the right-in-socialist-clothing fuckers around him. In a way one could roughly compare the pairing of Blair and him to the pairing of Hitler and Speer, in terms of the comparative "strenghts" and "weaknesses" they have/had.

Let's hope he can avoid spending a couple of decades in Spandau then...
