18 days down, 12 to go!
Day 18's topic is a talent, and 19's is a hobby. I'm going to sort of invert them, and write about what most would consider a hobby in this entry, and vice versa.
Anyway, I really enjoy making things with my hands. Back in the day I used to be very much into sewing things. blue_rhapsodies may remember this - we had a phase where we were constantly making things to outfit the figures for our dollhouses. I think there were a few years that those plastic people had a more complete wardrobe than I. In sixth(?) grade, I remember there being an extra credit assignment for English class for which we had to do some sort of creative project related to our unit on fairy tales, and I hand stitched a 3x4 foot quilt with alternating squares depicting scenes from various fairy tales using cut out felt pieces that I shaped into images. Never mind that I probably didn't need extra credit and certainly didn't need to do something that elaborate. Neurosis much? As you can see, it started early.
Now I'm much more into knitting. I don't have time for it anymore, really, but once in a while I'll pick it up again. I don't do the typical sweaters and scarves, though - I enjoy animals and figures, especially those from Jean Greenhowe's books (see pictures below). I didn't make any of the items pictured here, but I have made dolls/animals just like them.

I've recently gotten into making quilts, and knit one for my parents and one for Curt for the holidays. I don't think I'll be doing any more big projects until Step 1 is over, but maybe if I'm magically given an extra million hours a day...
