Big departures always make me sentimental, and probably no departure has marked a more profound life change than this one. I've spent the past week laying a hand on pretty much every object I own and sorting it into bring-give away-store at parents' house piles (the latter are mostly books). It requires making a decision about basically every single thing you own. Which is super annoying.

That said... I am doing a pretty decent job at it, and I'm excited to hit the road on Thursday!

Last night I dream I dislocated my left kneecap, and I was playing with it all around inside my knee, until I finally decided it would be a good idea to re-locate it and splint it and all that. It was a cool and interesting dream.

My housemate in Minneapolis just signed us a Sept 1 lease on an apartment!!! It's a 2 bedroom on Bryant + 33rd, right above the Urban Bean coffee shop. So we will smell delicious all the time, and in the winter we can hang out in the coffee shop and talk to the inevitable cute baristas all day. And it's right on a bus line, and there's free ( Read more... )

I have to close my French bank account the first day I get to France (July 3) because the French are bad at keeping their banks open and giving people appointments. I was very concerned about this, since I still hadn't gotten paid for 25 hours of work I did at the end of April (and couldn't close my account until that direct deposit arrived). I just got the official word that I should register for some classes for the fall.
