Some News Is Good News...

So, the doctor's office called me Friday. My visual test is A-OK, which rules out some of the nastier possibilities. They didn't tell me if the antibodies for Devic's were checked, but the visual test makes it much less likely to be an issue.

HOO-FUCKING-RAY!!! I am just thrilled that you finally have a diagnosis and can get out of the lack of diagnosis hell. So happy that you know how to proceed. :)

Like I told you yesterday, it sucks that they haven't identified something that can be treated, but it's very good that it's not one of the horrid things they were testing you for.

As for feeling self-centered - my God, if I was going through all this I'd be continually freaking out. You have every right and reason to be concerned about your health, and I don't think anyone reading this could possibly fault you for it. We want to know how you're doing.

That sounds good-glad to hear all is (relatively) well!
I don't know if you need any PT other than leg stuff, but I have a GREAT upper extremity PTist if you want the number. Good luck! Take it slow and PRACTICE your exercises at home-- very important.
