Are we going to read Eric's side too? I would love to see what he was thinking while bathing him or how he felt the first time he held him or the ways he was planning to torture the vampires when he saw his boys abused body!

As always, great chapter honey!

Oh, don't worry. There Will Be Blood. And apologies all around. And a crucial misunderstanding, that gets resolved in a way that pleases me.

Well, not NICE. :) But interesting. And at least the details are coming together... I have most of the last part written, but not the middle. As I told you, bits of it make me so sad.

The writing is nice. But yeah, poor Carsten. I swear, when I was thinking of a way to separate him from the driver, it felt like I was planning a real abduction...

Thanks for your response to my PM. And all your other help on my weird questions. I *think* you will be pleased where we wind up. I kept our conversations in mind.

Oh! And I added that Mercedes-Benz detail also, it seemed appropriate that Valentin would drive a Mercedes. :D

Poor Carsten...you're really laying on the pathos thick these days (not that I'm complaining).

I really enjoyed what you did with the narration here. Seeing the story unfold through the POV of someone else besides Eric/Carsten/Godric was fun. Fun? Is that an appropriate word to use in this instance? Interesting--it was an interesting choice and very interesting to read, and very well done, of course. And I'm sure it was a nice change of pace for you :)

Loved it, can't wait for more.

I swear to God, once this fic gets its claws out of me, the next two are going to be gratuitous porn, or Godric shops for a flat-panel TV, or something nice.

Having thought of this, though -- I had to write it. As you've guessed, I viewed the topic as a perfect way to explore the idea of some (most?) vampires' complete disconnect from whatever their previous humanity was. Not just the criminals doing terrible things; the others as well. These two vampires understand intellectually what they're doing, but emotionally they're totally detached and baffled. To paraphrase Keenoled from a PM: why all the fuss over the dying goldfish?

And there's more, primarily because having read it, Keenoled said (shades of The Dark Fic): come on, you can't leave it like that! And she's right.

"Godric shops for a flat-panel TV"--hehe. Every time I think of Godric carrying out mundane, everyday activities like driving a car, or doing laundry, or checking email, I have to laugh. It seems so...weird. I can just picture him trying to put together a bookshelf and cursing because one of the screws rolled under the couch and the set he bought is missing the assembly instructions. I have a much easier time imagining him sitting quietly in some room, taking the occasional visitor and dispensing sage advise in a sort of authoritative but resigned way while underlings run around and do the dirty work.

I love thinking about those mundane details -- that was originally what my Godric Goes Out fics were supposed to be -- although, like everything else, they kept getting twisted. ;-) HUGE surprise.

Anyway, I know he has Underlings, but come on -- it's Godric. Another writer and I decided *independently* that he drives a Prius. He pumps his own gas. Sometimes he goes into the grocery store and looks around just because it's so interesting.

And he didn't have a cel phone forever, and he still doesn't use it much -- just for calls. Eric got him an iPhone but he doesn't like it -- and he hasn't downloaded any of the great vampire apps at all.

This is great. I really loved being able to see it all through others' eyes and enjoy the boys' relationship all the more for seeing their confusion at it. I'm really hoping you'll write a little bit more so we can see Carsten get better.

There are (fortunately or unfortunately) two more parts. There's the middle part, which I'm struggling with, only because some bits are sad and make me feel guilty. The end, though, pleases me very much.

Oh, sweet Carsten. I love your icon. Don't worry, we'll get it sorted out.

So wonderfully angsty and amazingly well-written, as always! I really like the POV change - it's fascinating to imagine how other vampires are viewing the relationship from the outside.

Can't *wait* for the next part!

You know, I DO think you're the one who told me the inside of my head is a scary place. I have this one part I hacked out of this fic that I'm trying to decide whether to post. Maybe I will and blame it on you... :D

The middle part is still troubling me, but I'll figure it out. And yeah, I thought the POV change would be an interesting way to view their relationship.

Y'know, I'd say send it to me and I'll give you my opinion, but we have clearly established that I am, er, not quite representative of the general population (technical term for perpetually fucked). But I would totally take the blame!

Oh, I posted it. I can hardly bother anyone more than I already have. And it's not graphic/disgusting. Just wrong.
