Today was my first day of work! I am officially gainfully employed! A bit overwhelmed by everything I need to learn, but looking forward to diving in. I defended my thesis yesterday.

I thought I would share an interview with Daniel Dennett from today's Salon that gave me a huge sense of relief and hope. How refreshing to see/hear someone speak lucidly and intelligently and rationally about the place of science in religion. I think I'll order his book.

The new school year is starting back at Mudd.

You know how I know? Because I just got the year's first email of...ASHMC meeting minutes!

I will never escape them. The minutes will follow me for the rest of my life.

Had a great movie-going experience last night. There's a restored old theatre near us that shows "classic" films on the big screen, complete with a live organist for entertainment before/between shows. Last night they had a double dose of Audrey Hepburn, whom I love: Charade and Wait Until Dark, neither of which I'd seen in their entirety before. ( Read more... )
