Chapter Two

Time won't wait for you, and it goes away bit by bit. When you look back, you will then realize that time has already passed, and the person beside you have also left already.

Ryo stood in front of the wall, staring at the calendar. Today was October 15th, ten days before the day of the blind date. Last night, he received a phone call, and on the other side was his father. The reason he called Ryo was to remind him to dress neatly on the day of the blind date. Ryo tilted his head as he looked at the calendar. The other person in the blind date, the place of the date...he didn't know how to go to that Hotel K and he definitely didn't know who the other was.

Kamenashi had recovered from his sickness already. Right now, he was curled up comfortably in the chair, his thin eyes quietly watching Ryo's back. Ryo's figure seemed to have a faint grey in it, looking a bit depressed. Kamenashi lowered his eyes and bit on his lip. He said softly, "Sorry..."

"Hm?" Ryo looked back to face Kamenashi.

Kamenashi looked up at Ryo, quickly putting on a smile. "Nothing. These few days I got sick and needed Ryo to take care of me. I'm really sorry."

"We're friends," Ryo said, his face without any expression, but through his tone, it was obvious that Ryo didn't mind at all.

Kamenashi walked up to the fridge and found it empty inside. Wearing a bright smile, he looked at Ryo. "Let's go out for lunch?"

"Un." After wearing his jacket, Ryo followed after Kamenashi.

The two of them walked into a Chinese restaurant. Sitting in a corner of the restaurant, Kamenashi asked Ryo, "What do you want to eat?"

Ryo looked down at the menu. With all the various different kind of food, Ryo got dizzy looking at them, not knowing what to eat. Kamenashi looked at Ryo as if he knew what Ryo was thinking about, so he started in a gentle voice, "Ryo really likes to eat noodles with wanton from before."

Waving a waiter over, Kamenashi ordered two bowls of wanton noodles, and added an order of xiaolong bao and an order of shao mai. Ryo looked at Kamenashi, only to find the other balancing his face on his hands, smiling slightly. Watching those pair of lips curling up, an image flashed through Ryo's mind. Once, he had always looked a pair of rosy lips that were always tugging upwards. Ryo looked at Kamenashi's pair of eyes, as if trying to find something within them. He quickly moved his eyes away. He didn't know what kind of feeling was it, but all he knew was when his eyes met Kamenashi's gaze, his heart skipped a beat.

After a while, Ryo said, "Tell me some things."

It wasn't a request, but an order. Kamenashi played with his hair and pursed his lips a bit before saying, "Ryo's home is in Osaka. You have an older brother and a younger sister. In your family of five, Ryo and your father has the most stubborn personality. You guys always start arguing about the smallest things. And every time you guys argue, you'd be flipping tables. Once the argument, both of you want to apologize, but because of your pride, both of you won't open your mouths. But then each time, after you guys sleep and wake up, you guys will definitely make up."

"Oh, it's like that..." Ryo ruffled his hair. He didn't have any impression of past events. Of course, he had forgotten about arguing with his own father as well.

"When Ryo came to Tokyo to study, you argued with your father as well. Your father kept on going against it, but Ryo wanted to come no matter what. So after leaving a letter, you went on the Shinkansen yourself and came to Tokyo. Since your father was worried about you, he sent me after you." Kamenashi peered his eyes at Ryo, a small smile on his face.

Ryo stared at Kamenashi's smile and blanked out for a moment. Then he said, "I'm really sorry for having you to come."

Kamenashi laughed. His laughter was like bells and once they reached Ryo's ears, became sweet honey and sounded soft. Kamenashi looked at Ryo once again, his eyes peering. "The Ryo I know definitely wouldn't say things like that. Now that I hear them, I'm not used to it."

"Really?" Ryo tilted his head and rubbed his neck. Personality is like that. Even though he had forgotten, but the things that other people would know, he had some vague impression. As if he chose to throw away a part of his memories.

After the two finished lunch, they took a walk around the plaza and then headed back. Kamenashi picked a broom and started sweeping, while Ryo just hugged in his legs and sat on the couch, an expression of annoyance on his face. "You don't need to do that. For a place that two men live in, dirty would be normal."

Kamenashi raised his head to look at Ryo. Watching Ryo's annoyed face, he smiled again, his cheeks tinted by a shade of red. "Ryo is always like that. That's why your father can't help but worry!"

Ryo let his body fall on to the backrest of the couch and let out a breath. "Oyaji is worried about me? I don't remember any of that at all."

"You and your father would never speak out your worries," Kamenashi said with a smile.

Ryo stared at Kamenashi's figure. His pale feet were moving along the wooden floor, his loose pieces of hair moved in the air as the body moved as well. Wherever Kamenashi walked by, there would a faint smell left behind. Ryo slowly closed his eyes, a familiar scene appearing in his mind. He couldn't see a face, but only a shadow. Once he saw that blurry figure, his lips tugged upwards. Faintly, it drew out a smile.

But then, the smile quickly disappeared. Ryo opened his eyes again and saw that Kamenashi wasn't in the dining room anymore. Maybe he went into the room, or maybe the bathroom. Ryo stood up and went to the kitchen. He took out a bottle of wine and a bottle of soda like a habit and mixed them together. Within the cup, amber-coloured liquid appeared. After he added some ice, Ryo took a sip and raised the cup, looking at the amber-coloured liquid.

"Bourbon." Kamenashi's voice rung out. Through the wine glass, Ryo saw Kamenashi appear in front of his eyes. The image in front of his eyes mixed with the amber colour, and it was like an old movie. Kamenashi said again, "This is Bourbon. Ryo probably forgot about this too?"

Ryo nodded his head. Placing the glass back on the dining table, he repeated quietly, "Bourbon."

Kamenashi looked at Ryo's quiet expression and quickly went over, wearing a bright smile. "Ryo, can I drink too?"

Ryo turned to look at Kamenashi but the other already took the glass and drank the liquid, swallowing it. Kamenashi smiled brightly at Ryo. "Ryo mix it very well."

Ryo didn't say anything and just continued to observe Kamenashi. He definitely saw those moon-like eyebrows furrow together lightly. Kamenashi didn't like this drink, probably.

Bourbon. They why did he pretend to like it? Ryo lowered his eyes. He didn't understand what was Kamenashi thinking right now. Even though they were good friends in the past, but at this moment to Ryo, Kamenashi was just like a stranger.

Ryo dropped his head, and spoke only a while later. "Why is Kamenashi my good friend?"

Kamenashi's smile froze for a second. Seeing that Kamenashi didn't speak again, Ryo lifted his head and raised his eyes to meet Kamenashhi's blank eyes. Ryo watched the other’s faces and noticed his lips quivering, just like when he first met him, his face showing fear. When Ryo wanted to speak again, Kamenashi immediately put a smile on his face. "That's because...Ryo would always help me when I was younger! Even though you said I'm so ugly that it makes your heart hurt, but Ryo won't despise me and still be my friend."

Ryo couldn't help but scratch his head. "So I had such a sharp tongue?"

"Un!" Kamenashi nodded his head fervently. "Ryo always loves to be harsh. But then Ryo also said, your hurtful words is love ne."

"Really?" Ryo nodded his head, and his gaze fell on that wine glass with water droplets. Then he said, "I'm going back to my room."

"Okay." Kamenashi nodded his head and watched Ryo's leaving figure quietly.

Once Ryo walked away, Kamenashi slid down on the floor, kneeling there. His hands fell down and his eyes quickly filled with tears. The smile on his face also disappeared in a second. His face was pale, and his lips quivered as he spoke in a shaky voice, "I’m sorry..."
