So Charla's wedding is October 28th in Alabama. Porcupine Tree is the night of the 29th. I had arranged to be off of work that day so I could not have to hurry back from Alabama, maybe even stay somewhere out there, sleep in, and maybe go to Atlanta early and just have a nice long 3-day weekend. They do seem to have the worst timing, don't they? I never like it, but I am glad we have trials by jury instead of systems like a lot of countries us, and I can see why they can't make it optional. They have enough trouble getting people to show up as it is.

What they need to do is to pass a national law that either employers (who probably just piled up your work for you to do when you get back anyway) or taxpayers need to pay you your salary while you're on jury duty. I know. My Libertarian sensibilities cringe at that, but how the hell can you expect people to make a fair judgement when they have to worry about how another day of deliberation might mean they can't pay their rent?

It should pay more than it does. If it did, it wouldn't have to be mandatory. There would probably be a line of volunteers - the unemeployeed, bored housewives, ect.- virtually making a career out of it. That's what they should do- they should only call up those who are collecting unemployment, and not those who are depending on a job. The unemployed can use all the money can get and don't have a certain amount they ae used to survivng on. Fuck.

Hey that's not a bad idea. I was thinking of showing up with tattoos showin', reeking of alcohol from the previous night, toting a copy of the Satanic Bible or Anarchist's Cookbook to read while I'm waiting, Old Man's Child or something blaring out of my iPod... I really think I could get them to not like me by pretty much being myself.

Hahaha- oh I should just show up in a white robe with a pointy hood! That’d be great, as much as the people of Forsyth county have fought the racist stigma from the lynching of blacks from the early 1900s and the KKK rallies of the 80s... they would love it!
