Domestic Life Agrees With Me

Jul 16, 1977 22:56

We may not have the most posh flat in the UK. I may not be the best cook there is. I may not quite have the knack of those nasty little household spells. My figure certainly leaves something to be desired. I've become, if possible, even paler for lack of going outside.

But. I'm. Happy. That's right. I am living in a state of perpetual bliss. ( Read more... )

I'm cranky cos I'm no better than a slave trader. My job makes me feel evil in a bad sort of way!

The house-elves can tidy up after themselves for their chores ... and also do anything you ask me to do.

As opposed to my mother, who is evil in a good sort of way??

Why, darling, if you have them do everything you're supposed to do, then aren't you still using them as slaves?

Well, it'll me who'd putting quasi-edible food in their mouths and give them a leaky roof to sleep under!

...

I'll give them allowances! A fiver every decade.

Hahaha! They'll be so pleased, they'll probably combust!

Oh, dear, was that very cruel of me to say?

Yes, we got the biscuits! Though I think Alice took a few more than her share.

I'm so glad that domestic life is treating you well. Don't worry about the house spells and things, they take getting used to. It took me so long to get the cleaning one just right that I had go the harder way for a while. Then again, I spent most of my time in the garden rather than the kitchen, but it's still a tricky one.

Oh, I'm glad they arrived all right! I'm glad you two are doing well at auror training. I love hearing your reports.

I'm sure I will get better at the household spells. Maybe once the baby is born and I'm not so tired... I think it's draining most of my energy right now. What do you mean, 'the harder way'? Surely you don't mean to suggest that you actually scrubbed something with your own hands?!?!? How horrifying!

I'm positive you will. And I used a rag and scrub brush, not just my bare hands. When needs must, dear Falcon. It isn't really that horrifying.

Andi! I'm so glad that you're doing well and everything! I'm working on a gift for when the baby is born, my mum is teaching me to knit, but I won't say what she's teaching me because then the gift might not be a surprise.

I asked my mum about your dust bunnies but she said she'd never had that problem and couldn't think what to do, but she said you should write to Dear Helga in Witch Weekly because she knows how to fix all sorts of household problems like that.

And that's terribly nice about Ted and the House-Elves.

It's so good to hear from you, Marlene! Are you doing well? How are you enjoying your summer? It's very sweet of you to work on a gift for the baby - I really appreciate the thought.

The dust bunnies are very taxing. I'm quite certain there are more of them than when the spell went wrong - how fast are they meant to reproduce? I may write to Dear Helga at that; someone must be able to stop them! I can't keep a fresh vegetable in the place at all.

And yes, Ted is frightfully sweet sometimes.

I'm doing quite well, and having a lovely summer, thank you for asking! I'm so excited about making a gift for your baby! I know you're being very careful about who knows where you live and all of that, but I hope I'll be able to see the baby sometime.

And that's terrible about not being able to have vegetables around! I hope whatever you have to do to get rid of the dust bunnies doesn't hurt them at all...even if they are being a nuisence around the house, they still look like sweet little bunnies, don't they?

Oh, yes, I'm terribly sorry about all the secrecy; we'd love to have you over, really, but it's not safe for many people to know where we are - not safe for us and not safe for them. I'm sure you'll see the baby sometime. We wouldn't have it any other way.

Nononono... I don't want to hurt the bunnies! I just want them to go back to being dust.. or... go live on a farm somewhere, or something.

Andi, I'm really glad to hear that you and Tonks are doing well. I'm crap with housekeeping spells so I can't help you there but if you like, I can ask my little brother about your rabbit problem? He's got a few of his own, I'm sure he can come up with something helpful.

Benjy! So good to talk to you! I'd love any advice your brother can give regarding the rabbits. Do you think he wants a few more? I can't guarantee they won't spontaneously turn back into dust, but they should be good for a few laughs until then...

Sure thing, if our house ever gets too crowded I'm sure we can just keep them in my mother's garden or something. If you could figure out a way to banish them from your house, I could pick them up and bring them back here?

Hmmm... yes, I'll have to work on bunny-banishment spells....
