I cannot believe what happened this weekend. I saw it with my own eyes, and I still can't believe it. Ted and I were having a lovely time in Hogsmeade - I had finished up a bit of last minute shopping, and we had gone for a bit of a walk when we heard all the noise and crept back to town to see what was going on... it was awful! I can't believe

I'm still surprised we got through the dementors they had bordering the campus. I never have been that close to one before, it made me feel like burying myself in the snow. I just kept reliving that day Jack left home after that row he had with dad and no matter what I did, I couldn't get rid of the voices of them screaming in my head.

Yes! I confess I'd forgotten we would have to run past them to get back to school without the professors. Those things are just awful. I hope they didn't force any memories too horrible on you, but I suppose that's rather private...I kept remembering when I was six and my mum caught me playing with a doll that I said was a Muggle, and I wouldn't let Bella hex it, so she turned ME into a doll and let Bella and Narcissa play with me for hours... it was so humiliating.. and I couldn't see, it was dark, but I could hear... and I could feel... every little thing they did...

I tried to use a shielding charm when the memories began flooding my head, but it was no use against those tossers. I know there's a spell you can use against them, but Trimble never covered it ... at least I don't think he did.
No, it's all right. It was a memory about my brother Jack, the one that lives in the East End? I think I told you about him before.

No, a shielding charm wouldn't be strong enough. You'd need a specialised charm, and a powerful one. They don't teach them here.
You know, when Lily was with me in the hospital wing the other day, she was reminding me that there's this sort of learning club she started that I had promised to attend. Maybe you could come with me next time? They study lots of useful things...
Yes, I think you told me about him. Isn't he the one who runs the record shop? He sounds nice - I'm sorry you have a bad memory about him. Mine's about family, too...

I was... rather damp, actually. It was drafty and dirty and dark... but at least I didn't hear any shrieking that night, and I had Ted to comfort me protect me keep me company.

Is this a bad time to say I bought you some candy in Hogsmeade? I lost it though so I'll get you some more later.

*laugh* Oh, Dorcas! Don't worry about it. I really appreciate the thought. Happy Christmas anyway!

Happy Christmas to you too but I'm still getting you a proper present. I'm getting Tonks a proper present too even if he seems to like the moose.

Thank you, Dorcas. You don't have to do that. And yes, Ted's taste in musical objects is still something of a mystery to me.
