What I wouldn't do for some air con..

Today I have been anonymously browsing through Friends Reunited trying to find out what my old school companions are doing these days. As some of you may know, I have a very bad habit of burning bridges almost as soon as I establish them, so old ties in my life are almost non-existant. This means I have not a fucking clue what any of those people ( Read more... )

Hello there! It's nice to be back, and it's also nice that it has cooled down and everyone isn't biting each other's heads off, even if just for a day or so.

This weather is great, it's just right. It's only because no one in this country has air conditioning other than at work, that everyone moans.

Gives everyone something to moan about, if it wasn't that it would be the price of petrol or something equally mundane. Although I'm not too much into the sweating thing.

Nice to see you. Weather is bloody awful, am praying for rain. Though Thames Water will just leak it out the pipelines anyway.

Working in the book trade used to be something to aspire to, but that was in the days before it was taken over by the evil corporate hegemonies. Die, Waterstones, die!

And you.
Some one should send Thames Water a big role of electrical tape and a torch and politely tell them to get underground and start working. I find electrical tape works wonders for most things.

Not just Waterstones, but also Borders and even, dare I say it - the now sold out Ottakars..

Hi there! Just today I was wonderingn what you were up to.

What's new? I'm housesitting for my parents up in the interior of BC, and it is stinking hot, like almost forty degrees hot. I feel like my brains are melting. Also, I've pretty much killed the lawn. Beyond that, not much.

It wasn't that long ago that I left the world of books. Miss the people, miss the books, do not miss the job.

What are you going to do instead?

Hello!

I've killed my lawn too - with water restrictions in place and a drought going on the water suppliers won't let us use garden hoses. Now, in place of a lush green carpet of grass I have a few tufts of brittle, prickly brown weeds. Makes for a crappy picnic!

You've left books too - Hurrah! Doubt I'll be missing it much either. I'm going to work as a nutritional advisor for an organic retailer. What about you?

I'm pretty much just focusing on school, I'm almost done and I would like to graduate with half-ass decent marks. I will be trying to get a job in the museum for fall, though. I need some experience.

I have an olive tree in my garden - the pigeons ate all the olives, greedy bastards!

Cheap land in Greenland - sounds, ah... cold and remote. (actually, that seems rather appealing right about now)
