This little guy has been a frequent visitor lately. S/he is not shy at all, and keeps tasting the cherries to see if they are worth eating yet and lots of them have a nibble mark. I wonder if there will be any cherries left for us! :)

We are going to look into some netting to protect at least part of the tree, but I always worry that someone will get caught in it.

Even the ones they knock off and onto the ground, the ickle birds wait for them down there.

Do the birds strip that tree every year?
Last year, we had tons of cherries, but this year they are vanishing quickly.

This year they got the lot!
Mum thinks it's because the other stuff they usually eat too got messed up by the weather.

We've had so much rain here that everything is very late, so it could be that everyone is just descending on the few things that look edible!

Maybe we have to develop a taste for unripe cherries, and get to them before the birds and squirrels.
