When the show has opened I will have a think about this. But you should ask invisible_al about this, he's good with music and stuff. When he was courting me he made me a fabulous mix CD which I still have and listen to loads.
Ah ha - beat you to it! I have already consulted the aforementioned oracle. He has given me the benefit of his wisdom and I will look to benefit from his pearls of wisdom on the morrow
For the record I mentioned Gogol Bordello and Alabama 3 for punk and weird ass blues and soul. Tinarwen for African rhythms played on a massive bass section and the soundtrack for Run Lola Run.
Old, but new to you. Blue Oyster Cult "Secret Treaties". The track "Harvester of Eyes" is well generally regarded to be the inspiration for The Corinthian. Also "Flaming Telepaths" was an influence on JMS.
Orbital "All Together".
My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult "Confessions of a Knife" (Jon ... Jon ...)
So confessions of a knife....you know it's always going to remind me of you. It may even prompt me to finding new and interesting ways to creep you out with it too :)
Yeah, I know it reminds you of me. However, it is a very good album - one of MLwtTKK's two best - the other being "13 Above the Night", which has a very different sound. Confessions is kinda rocky-gothy, while 13 is more dancey and slightly more edgey.
I'm going through a similar thing myself lately and have had some luck with Pandora radio: http://pandora.com/
Just plug in a favourite artist and it'll play you something similar. The thing I like about Pandora is it also describes why a certain track is playing. Apparently I'm keen on "extensive vamping" in my music. =)
Last.fm is also worth a go; several folk you're likely to know (including me) also use it. It has more of a community angle.
