well, almost a week ago
i turned 17.
yay? at least there was no ridiculously expensive giant unwanted surprise party waiting for me this year. I just had dinner with the family/the blackburns (neighbors who double as family) and i received my new best friend, an apple green ipod nano that i named Lewis. :)

the good news is
i love love love this song. and i ate fruit snacks today at lunch. they were delicious.
& my stronger, more logical half has finally started to kick my depressive funk in the ass. somewhere in between the locking myself in my room every night, ignoring phone calls from people who did nothing wrong, screaming at my family for breathing, eating ( Read more... ) -

the cynics were right.
as if i needed another blow to my already-bleeding faith in the human race....yesterday, while i was skiving english, i discovered something that sabotaged a friendship and shot my weekend to hell in about ten seconds.

1. What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?
kissed a few people that would have surprised my 2005 self. got a real job & experienced self sufficieny. started driving. got in a car accident. almost killed myself and several other people while driving more times than i can count. i could list some of the year's landmarks, but i wont. It's been a good time in many ways, it's just that everything i can recall about the past year feels like a foreign memory, vague and unconnected to the present person occupying my life.

it's christmas
or it was, 18 minutes ago.
today was...dare i say it? pretty good. no sign so far of the huge yearly ferocious free-for-all screaming matches between A) father and mother dearest B) eldest brother and father dearest C) yours truly and my very favorite dad or D) all of the above. tonight
was such a disaster it's almost funny. almost.
it was my natural reward for attempting, for once, to do the "right thing".

time after time
today was a strange day.
everyone gets more sentimental around the holidays. The people around you may be the most annoying thing since houseflies, but as soon as you hit the second or so week in december, it suddenly becomes clear how endearing and wonderful they really are.
