Forest fire burning north of Colorado Springs
Not again.
The fire started around 2 pm in the forested community just north of Colorado Springs called Black Forest. There's a huge mandatory evacuation area including over 1,000 homes . 7,500-8,000 acres burned. It's not clear yet how many homes have burned, but some definitely have. There is no containment.

Can't I just download artistic ability? It would be ever so much easier. It would also require a lot less paper.
But I can at least believe that I'll be an artist if I just stick with this. Which is kind of amazing, considering that I've dabbled off and and on with art practically my whole life. If I'd just kept it up instead of not drawing ( Read more... ) -
Not dead, just drawing... and other things
I'm trying to... learn to draw doesn't seem quite the right way to put it... get decent at drawing? Actually become an artist? I'm not sure. All I know is that I was sufficiently surprised at my own ability when I did that 50 hands/50 feet challenge thingy on deviantART that I'm...doing whatever it is I'm doing.

My friends finally got me to try Guild Wars 2
The game play is, to me, indistinguishable from any other game. Just with the added complication of different skills you have to unlock with different weapons. For some people, this is probably awesomesauce. For me its... okay, whatever, did it really need to be this complicated? Writing interpersonal relations would probably be easier if I actually had social skills.
Oddly enough, most of the time I can muddle through writing characters who have better social skills than I do (social skills were apparently my dump stat*) , but some things elude me completely. How do people flirt? How does one convey friendship rather than interest? (Though that I might succeed at accidentally simply due to my utter lack of ( Read more... ) -
I am some kind of horrible comedy routine when I cook with meat
So, I've had this nasty cold for a bit. Which is what, the fourth or fifth respiratory bug of some sort this winter? I figured I'd make myself some homemade chicken noodle soup to help me get better, or at least feel better. I always forget how squeamish I am handling any sort of meat.

I have stories I want to tell. They aren't perfect. They won't be liked by everyone. They have problematic content. Everything sucks and I've been eaten by brainweasels.
That's probably a good sign its time to get sanity drugs again. Or rather, that I should have a month or more ago, but these things sneak up on one. Language matters
I've wanted to say something about the criticism of some female characters as "men with boobs/breasts" for quite some time, but I don't think I ever have, on account of not being sure my criticism of the criticism matters.* It finally occurred to me that most of the problems I have with the phrase are valid regardless of my own gender.
