Well, after extensive talking with some people on sci.math, some hand calculations, and a running computer program to run through all possibilties, I'm ready to say SONIC JUST PULLED THAT NUMBER OUT OF THEIR BUTTS.

It probably tested well or something on a focus group.

I remember when Ms. Sivils used to rearrange the EH room in high school just to bother me. I don't like change and she knew it. I've often tried to figure out why change bothers me so much.
